IMPORTANT SCHOOL CLOSURE UPDATE
Governor’s School Closure Mandate
Per the statewide school closure mandated by the Governor, all schools are shut down effective 3/18. In order to follow this mandate, we are requiring that any students who need to pick up materials do so by 3/18. Additionally, we are asking that there are no small group meetings with students take place on site effective immediately. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Chromebook & Technology
Your student may have a school issued chromebook in their possession. Please help them remember that their school issued chromebook for academic purposes only. All school issued chromebooks are monitored by staff and software on a daily basis. If their school issued chromebook is damaged or not working properly please contact your building secretary to set up an opportunity to receive support.
NO SMALL GROUPS AT SCHOOL AT THIS TIME. Please wait until things become more “known” about the effect of group meetings at school. Meetings can be held online in a variety of formats (hangouts, google classroom).
Learning Continues:
NOSD is looking at this event as an opportunity to emphasize that learning happens anytime, anywhere. We are leveraging technology creatively and working with online tools. NOSD teachers are working to provide online learning opportunities. In addition, activity bags for younger students in OES 4K- 2nd Grade will be available in the OES enclosed front lobby area. OMS and OHS staff are working with chromebook tools and google classroom to set up opportunities to learn for all students. Some staff have books and additional resources for OMS/OHS students in the enclosed front entry of each school.
WIAA Sports Cancelled:
All WIAA Sports are cancelled and practices are NOT being held. School is closed and coach contact is not allowed for WIAA sports. The WIAA has officially suspended the spring sports season through April 6, 2020. The move follows Governor Tony Evers' Friday executive order to close all public and private schools throughout the state starting Wednesday. The suspension will include all training, practices, and scrimmages along with scheduled games. No organized team activities of any kind are permitted.
OHS Clubs, Teams, and Field Trips
All club activities and field trips at the High School are cancelled. We will examine the events after April 10. We will hit “pause” on events scheduled after April 10 as our calendar is limited for building availability. More info to come.
Charter Spectrum announced it will offer free access to broadband and WiFi services to households with students. ... The company will also waive installation fees for student households. To enroll in the service call 1-844-488-8395.

Racine Danish Kringles and Little Caesars Pizza Fundraiser:
We are communicating with our vendors and our delivery is still set for April 1. Delivery of the product will occur to the cafeteria and we will be setting up a delivery drive-thru in order to deliver the product directly to your vehicle without you even having to come into school. More details will follow. Please check Facebook for most up to date information. If anyone has specific questions or concerns, please email nosdptr@nosd.edu. We are actively monitoring that email for any questions. Thank you for supporting the NOSD PTR!
While this is an unprecedented time in our country, our District wants to provide support to students, staff, and our greater community. With this in mind, our District has put in place the “NOSD Community Support Team”. This team will be serving in a variety of ways to help address the needs in our community. With the use of school vans we have the ability to be able to deliver needed supplies and educational materials for our students, provide food pantry items, and facilitate deliveries to our senior citizens or families in need. Families can call any of our school offices and reference the “NOSD Community Support Team” or send an email to the address below:
supportingourcommunity@nosd.edu
During challenging times, it is awesome to see our community work together to support those in need. We will continue to provide proactive communication and regular updates in the days and weeks ahead.

NHS Event Changes
In response to the school closures related to COVID-19 and the latest recommendations regarding gatherings over 50 people issued by the CDC, we will be making the following adjustments to the NHS requirements and ceremony for this school year:
The ABBAFAB concert has been postponed. A future date has not been set at this point. Unless the new date occurs prior to graduation, the current senior members will not be required to assist at this event.
The 15 hours of documented volunteer service requirement has been waived for this school year. I appreciate the numerous members who have performed their hours and provided us with documentation. Our community and school is a better place because of your kind service.
The NHS Induction Ceremony initially scheduled for April 29, 2020, will be provided in a virtual format this year. A recorded version honoring our members will be distributed to our membership. The video link will be posted on the OHS Newsletter in early May.
Certificates and medals will be given to the students in a school day ceremony upon their return to OHS
Participation of our Junior members at our senior awards night (Wednesday, May 27th) or at the graduation ceremony (Sunday, May 31st) is still required.
We appreciate your flexibility with this alternative approach during these atypical times. Please know that OHS continues to deeply appreciate and respect the outstanding achievements and contributions of our NHS members.
POSTPONED-The ABBAFAB Concert has been postponed until further notice
The ABBAFAB Concert sponsored by NOSSF that was to take place on April 4th has been postponed. As soon as the date has been rescheduled it will be announced.
