Who Are We?

Vienna-Finley Elementary School is an A-rated school located just south of Scottsburg, IN. VFES teachers use a model of blended learning to educate, engage, and enrich students. In a blended learning environment teachers use a variety of resources (technology, manipulatives, online resources, textbooks, etc.) and a variety of approaches (whole group teaching, small learning groups, one-on-one tutoring, student collaborative groups, etc.) to help meet the needs of each individual student. All students from kindergarten through fifth grade are issued an iPad at the beginning of the year that they use in class. Third, fourth and fifth grade students are issued full-sized iPads and are also permitted to take the device home each night. Our kindergarten, first and second grade students are issued iPad Minis to use throughout the school day.

Vienna-Finley Gives Back!

Every Friday, volunteers come into VFES to pop popcorn that is sold to students for $1 a bag. The proceeds benefit a different charity each month. Over the course of each school year, VFES students donate several thousand dollars to various charities. Charities we've donated to include the following: Ashley’s Coat Drive, Relay for Life, Scott County Clearinghouse, Reading is Fundamental, Scott County Humane Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Pennies for Patients and the Scott County YMCA.

In the Spring of 2013, VFES switched gears in regards to fundraising. In years past, VFES had organized traditional fundraisers that required students to sell wrapping paper, chocolates and candles. Vienna-Finley Elementary School’s new fundraiser, a Walk-A-Thon, not only promotes healthy living, but is also another opportunity for families to be involved during the school day. Beginning in the Spring, VFES students began asking their family members, friends and neighbors for donations to support school field trips, classroom supplies, student technology and rewards. The VFES Walk-A-Thon generates several thousand dollars each year and is an amazing community effort to support our students.
