Connecting GMS In One Place
January 26th
GMS Families,
It's been a great week at GMS and we can't believe we're heading into the last week of January. Wow! It sure has gone by fast.
This week, our 7th graders got to visit the TECC to learn about what our high schools have to offer in Career and Technology. They behaved and had a blast. Check out some of the pictures below.
We also had kids doing amazing things in the classroom. I've been in lots of classrooms this week and the kids are working hard - especially the kiddos getting ready for History Day! See some pics of our kids doing "learning scavenger hunts" and some top notch 8th graders presenting to our district stakeholders and board members!
As you know, GMS is THE middle school to attend! Please read through this newsletter so you don't miss out on anything. Here’s what you need to know for this week:
*Any time at VISTA
*2 or more times in ISS
*UIL academically eligible
*No more than 2 "N"s or "U"s on their citizenship grade for the 3rd 9 weeks
Remember, it they're not taking care of business in their classes, they are NOT attending this field trip privilege.
Also, GCISD Nutrition Services supports regional agriculture through our Farm Fresh Friday initiative. One Friday each month, we feature a regionally grown item from Texas or it's surrounding states. This February, we will feature Farm Fresh Broccoli on 2/23/2018 at all of our Elementary and Middle Schools. Through Farm Fresh Friday we provide students with Nutrition Education and exposure to new and healthy food items. Keep an eye out for our Farm Fresh Friday promotions this spring!
We are FAMILY! This is OUR HOUSE! Great students come from GREAT FAMILIES!

Grapevine Middle School girls had another successful week against the Heritage Middle School Broncos. It is safe to say that the Lady Ponies gave Heritage a run for their money in multiple match-ups on Monday and Thursday evening. 7th grade unfortunately lost all three games, but had some outstanding back to back competitions. 7th grade A team was the closest to getting a victory, only losing by 3 points.
8th grade, however, left the Broncos stunned winning two out of their three games. C team had a buzzer beater goal, winning by 2 points. B team went into overtime and then sudden death, unfortunately losing by 2 and A team annihilated HMS 48-23.
