School Board Approves Changes to School Calendar

On Monday, May 4, the Board of Education approved a change in this year's calendar. Wednesday, May 13 will be the last day for new instruction and assignments for students. Students then have Thursday and Friday to complete their work and get any missing assignments turned in as permitted. This means the final day for students will be May 15,2020.

Elida Meal Distributions

Total breakfast & lunches distributed this week: 3,968, the busiest week since starting distributions in March.

We will distribute next week on Monday & Wednesday, May 11th & 13th from 10:30-11:30 at both locations: Lima Community Church near teh Axis Bldg., & Temple Christian School/Lima Baptist Temple.

Meal Distributions continue through May 27th

Elida Schools will continue to distribute meals until Wednesday, May 27th. This will be a 3 day meal bag as usual. We will not distribute on Memorial Day, Mon., May 25th.

On Wednesday, May 20th, we will cover for Monday & Tuesday of the next week, so it will be a 5 day meal bag.

Elida Elementary Staff holds "Reverse Parade"

After supply pick-up on Thursday evening, the elementary staff held a "Reverse Parade" for families to drive-thru and see their teachers! There was a huge turnout of families. Comments on facebook say: "This was awesome, my kids loved seeing their teachers!" "Thank you teachers for all you do!" "My kiddos loved it!" "Definitely a hit for my kids."

New Elementary Construction UPDATE

See this report from Garmann/Miller that highlights the accomplishments this week including underground sanitary/underground electric, mechanical and plumbing in wall rough where needed, floor prep for concrete pours has started, water line installation continues, fire hydrant, too! It includes many great photos! We're so excited for the future of Elida Elementary School!

Cross Country Information

While we don't know what the fall season looks like right now, the Cross Country coaches are looking ahead! For students interested in joining the team: For sign ups and more information, join the Remind app. For the middleschool boys and girls team (incoming 7th and 8th graders), please text @ctafl to the number 81010. Coach Claire Taflinger is the middle school

coach. For incoming 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th graders (boys and girls) please text @maltst to the number 81010. Coach Mark Altstaetter is the high school coach. Both coaches will keep the prospective athletes informed on what all will take place between now and the start of the season.


The deadline for applying for open enrollment for those "reapplying" has been extended to May 15th but should be returned as soon as possible. All new applicants should turn in their application and proof of residency as soon as possible. A child who will be 5 years of age on or before August 1, 2020 and lives in the Elida Local School district is eligible to attend Kindergarten classes at Elida Elementary School. Shelf Stable Food For Families

Fridays from 10:30am -1:30 pm. These resources are available locally through SAFY (Specialized Alternatives for Families and Youth) and Children's Hunger Alliance.

CENSUS 2020: Allen County Statistics

Due to the coronavirus, the deadline for self-response to the 2020 Census has been extended to October 31 (from August 14). See the document with the most recent STATISTICS of census data from Allen County. Elida returns are at 74% so far.
