Distance Learning Device Troubleshooting Tips
If you are having issues with Schoology check the status of the software first: https://status.schoology.com/
Try using Schoology after 4pm as it is usually up then. Due to the high demand during the day across the US they are having issues with connectivity.
Chromebook Troubleshooting Tips
- Many Chromebook issues are resolved by restarting the device.
- To Restart the Chromebook
- Sign out of your account, lower right bottom of the screen (the Shelf)
- Then look for the power symbol along the bottom left of the shelf to shutdown.
- Turn the Chromebook back on - Hold down the power button on the keyboard
- Device running sluggish in the Chrome browser: Clear the cache and then reboot https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/183083?hl=en
- Delete all browsing history (clears cache and cookies - great for fixing errors with website). Click the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar. Select Tools. Select Clear browsing data. In the dialog that appears, select the checkboxes for the types of information that you want to remove (do all). Use the menu at the top to select the amount of data that you want to delete. Click Clear browsing data.
- If someone has changed the keyboard settings. Click SHIFT-ALT to set it back to US keyboard. Check to make sure the language wasn't changed: https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/1059490?hl=en
- If the image on the home screen is rotated: Ctrl-shift-reload/refresh will rotate the entire screen by 90 degrees each time it is pressed.
- If you need to remove a user from a Chromebook, do not login. At the login screen, click on the upper right corner of that user's login icon and remove the user. https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/1059260?hl=en
- No sound on headphones: Make sure headphones are plugged in properly and there is no dirt in the plug. Make sure the mute button isn't pushed.
- If you are still having issues please email Mr. Dolling at samuel.dolling@fcps.org
- If you are having issues with Schoology please email Ms. Bradshaw at Tatiana.Bradshaw@fcps.org

The DTI team is continuing to work to extend the services at additional locations. But, the network services have been extended at the following schools:

MS - Brunswick, New Market, Windsor Knolls, Middletown

Student Grades
As sent out via Find Out First by the Superintendant, the last day for new work to be assigned to students will be Friday, June 5th.
Students in 2nd-5th Grade:
This week, our teachers will be reviewing student work and determining which students have work that needs to still be completed. As discussed in earlier correspondence, students should have at least 70% of assigned work (third column of the learning plan) completed.
If students do not have 70% of the work completed, they may receive an ICOL (incomplete). Students in danger of receiving an ICOL will receive an individualized learning map that will outline what work needs to be completed next week. Our goal is to have 100% of our students receiving grades of P (pass) as this demonstrates that students have engaged with learning during distance learning. If there are extenuating circumstances, please let us know so that we can work with you.
Students in Grades PK-1:
All students are expected to participate in the Continuity of Learning by completing the assignments teachers provide and following the course guidance.
Students will continue to earn the grades of Exceeds Expectations (EE), Meets Expectations (ME), Approaches Expectations (AE), Developing Expectations (DE), or Not Evaluated (NE) for term 4. Students who have completed at least 70% of their work will receive a score of Meets Expectations (ME) If students have not completed at least 70% of their work, they will receive an individualized learning plan that will need to be completed by Wednesday,
**FCPS will not provide personal and social development ratings or ratings for Specials Areas (Art, Music, Physical Education) during Continuity of Learning at the elementary level.
Frederick County Library Challenge
Take the Reading Challenge!
Band or Orchestra Sign Ups
Students who will be entering 4th and 5th grade next school year have the opportunity to learn a band or orchestra instrument of their choosing. Since the instrumental music teachers are not able to present their normal recruitment show to the students in person, we have created a website for students to view. This website provides information on what instruments are offered, videos to gain more information about each instrument, information about the band/orchestra program, and an enrollment form for students who are interested.
Mr. Boehmer and Mr. Racster would love for all current 3rd and 4th grade students to play an instrument next school year. Even if you do not have any experience playing an instrument, we will start from the beginning and teach you exactly what to do. Did you play an instrument with us last year? We would love for you to enroll again for this coming year! Please take some time to view the website and contact us with any questions. We look forward to seeing everyone in band or orchestra lessons next school year!
