Cold and Flu Season Is Here!
We are doing our best here at Columbia to help prevent the spread of illness by encouraging staff and student to stay home when sick and to wash hands frequently, particularly after using the restroom and before eating. Masks are always available to those who would like an extra level of protection.
You can help us keep school as healthy as possible by continuing to keep your student home when they are sick. Even if they are negative for COVID and “just have a cold” they should still not come to school until they are significantly improved.
Many local pharmacies offer flu shot appointments or you may schedule with your healthcare provider. Vaccination against influenza reduces your risk of illness, hospitalization, or even death and can prevent you from spreading the virus to your loved ones. Read more at How To Get Your Shot. Note: COVID-19 booster doses and flu shots are safe to get at the same appointment!
To access information and resources about student health conditions, when to return after illness, immunization requirements, medications or contact information for your School Nurse, go the Health Tab (under Students and Families).
Diversity Night!
Join us to learn about cultures from around the world!
Listen to songs by the Columbia Choir. Share and taste food from different cultures within our Columbia Community.
If you would like to display and share a little bit of your culture, click HERE. Deadline to sign up is Tuesday, November 29. Please email Ruba Alawar at alawarrw@mukilteo.wednet.edu for any questions or to volunteer that night.
We hope to see you there!
S.T.E.A.M. Night
A big thank-you to Snohomish County PUD and Mathnasium of Mukilteo for leading so many cool activities at our S.T.E.A.M. Night on Nov 17th!
Art Docent Classroom Volunteers Needed!
To support arts education, the PTA sponsors a volunteer-run Art Docent program. We are currently looking for volunteers to teach pre-made art lessons in the classroom for the months of Feb, March, April, May.
Volunteer art docents teach one lesson per month. Training, lesson plans, and materials are provided. No prior art experience or background is necessary. All that is needed is a love of the arts and enthusiasm for working with kids! Sign-up here to volunteer:

Attendance Matters
Did you know that just TWO absent days a month can make it harder for students to stay on track? Attendance matters for all of us at Columbia Elementary, and we need your help! If you need support, please call (425) 366-2600
If your student is absent, please contact the school 24 Hours attendance line at (425) 366-2605 to report absence.
Please include:
- Student First and Last Name
- Date of absence
- Reason for absence.
We will only return your call or voicemail if we have questions.
Any absence not specifically covered, such as family vacations or other extended absence, must have a Principal approved pre-arranged absence form in order to be excused. This form must be completed and submitted to the school office one week prior to the scheduled absence.
Free Meals for all Students!
This year all children are eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch. If your child has dietary restrictions, or you don’t want your child to eat the school-provided meals, please tell your child’s teacher. If you send lunch from home, please make sure your child can independently open all items and that you send healthy foods your child will eat.
Breakfast is served from 8:35-8:50 AM daily.
Lunch is served by grade level at their designated lunch time.
