Term Two has begun!!

This week we have welcomed our new whānau with a pōwhiri, our junior students have spent Thursday morning at a Fun 4 U day at South School, and a small group of senior students have ventured to Rotorua to participate in the EPro8 Challenge.

We have a lot more exciting things to look forward to this term.

Week 3 you have the opportunity to check in with your child's teacher to see how they are progressing, and set future goals at this terms Goal Setting Conference.

If you are free, you can join us for our Annual School Cross Country event, on Wednesday the 19th of May. Save the date - more information will be sent out closer to the day.

Other activities coming up include: Future Ferns Rugby 7's Fun Day - we have 18 girls going to Whakatāne to participate in this fun day.

Rip Rugby Trials - Years 5&6 on Monday, Years 3&4 on Wednesday.

The EPro8 Challenge is the inter-school science and engineering competition. Every year over 10,000 students from 800 schools from throughout New Zealand take part.

Students take part in a series of competitions and events designed to promote science and engineering.

Events are run for year 5-6, year 7-8 and year 9-10 age groups.

Teams of four students will compete for the title of their regions EPro8 Challenge Champion.

Presley, Leighon, Olivia, Hanilea, Tomas, Rikihana, Matiu and Tipene represented us well. We placed 4th and 7th which is a fantastic result for our first time.

Yesterday 120 junior students from our school ventured down to Kawerau South for Fun 4 U day. It was a fundamental skills day where students were able to get a taste of a number of different sports such as; rippa, league, parachute games, football and volleyball to name a few. It was a fantastic day and great opportunity thanks to Sport BOP.

This week our year 5 & 6 Basketball team had their first game of the season in the Whakatāne Basketball season. Thank you to all involved in coaching and managing this team. Without whānau support opportunities like this are not possible.

Caught Being Good Prize

Duffy has given the school a prize for Mother's Day.

The students wrote why their mum, nan, or aunty was the best, and one lucky student is bringing a book home today. Will you be getting the book?
