Principal's Report
Welcome to Week 8 of the term and Māori language week. This week the student council have been encouraging our students and staff to include more everyday kupu Māori into our daily conversations.
I have enjoyed listening to them introduce the kupu of the day over the loud speaker every morning and give examples of how we can use it. Tino pai ngā kōrero tamariki mā!
This week I also had the privilege to visit Room 11 and 12 at their camps at Camp Columba in Pukerau. Congratulations to Mrs Willocks and Miss Roughan for well organised and well run camps, and a huge thank you to all the amazing camp parents who helped out. I can imagine there will be some very tired students and adults this weekend.
Camp provides an opportunity for students to experience new things and to push themselves out of their comfort zone. A number of the camp activities including abseiling, raft building and the high ropes provided great opportunities for this. I really enjoyed watching our students' faces after they had jumped off the high ropes, or abseiled down a cliff. What an achievement! All our students should be very proud of themselves!
Only 2 weeks until the next term break.
Ngā mihi nui,
Vicki Neave

School Photographer
It has come to our attention that one of the photographers that took this year's school photos had a previous conviction involving questionable material, ten years ago, that made him unsuitable to work with children.
In line with school policy, the photographers were not alone with our students at any stage as all photos were supervised by staff.
The Board of Trustees has reviewed our policy and are confident that the policy was followed.
The photographer in question is no longer working for the company and has no access to our school images.
Moving forward we will ensure all school photographers have a successful police vet prior to coming onsite.
If you have any concerns around this matter, please contact the school.

Spellathon
Students have different lists to learn, and they will be tested on half of the words/letters on their list next Friday 23 September.
All students will need to have their spellathon card at school on Friday 23 September, so that their test results can be attached and they can then show their sponsors how many words they got right!
Monies raised will be used to support purchasing Structured Literacy resources for the whole school.
We look forward to your support.
