4th Grade News
Week of February 6th
Welcome!
We would like to welcome our new student, Teddy Chong along with his parents, Sussie and Sam to the fourth grade. Teddy comes to us from the country of Qatar. We are so glad to have him be a part of this awesome grade! He has had a great day so far, and he has already made new friends! If you get a chance maybe set up a play date with the Chong family so you can get to know them! The teachers will be happy to share their contact information with you.
4th Grade Play
The fourth grade play practice is in full swing! Scripts have been sent home, your child should be working hard to memorize his/her lines. Remember, lines should be memorized by March 1st. We will be practicing without scripts starting in March. Please send in your costumes! We are so excited to see them.
Social Studies
We are wrapping up our unit on Colonial America. We will begin our project based assessment this week. The students will be researching a colonial region of their choosing. They will pretend to be a sales person, and have to try to convince Europeans to move to their colonial region. Students will create a sales pitch along with a pamphlet to promote their region. This should be a fun way to wrap up the unit. We will utilize our time in the technology lab to research the regions.
We will be sending home a blank study guide for the thirteen colonies test. The test will take place next week. We have been playing games, and each homeroom has come up with their own mnemonic device to help aid in remembering the thirteen colonies. We have no doubt that the students will do very well on this assessment but please help them study at home this week.
Thursday
The annual Mother/Son Breakfast will be held on Thursday, February 9th at 7:30 a.m. in the Gym. This is a great time for moms and their sons to eat and visit with the rest of the lower school family. Hope to see you there!
Mardi Gras
Because St. George's School is on the parade route, we will not have Aftercare and after-school activities on days when Uptown parades are scheduled to roll. Please make note of these dates:
- Friday, February 17th
- Wednesday, February 22nd
- Thursday, February 23rd
- Friday, February 24th
