Rod's Random Thoughts
Happy Monday Hornets!
I hope you all had a restful weekend. Getting back on a regular schedule is quite the adjustment. After last week I am thankful for the short week after the holiday.
This week we have a number of events as the high school. We have two big basketball games, one home and one away, against those pesky hornets from across the river. We hope you come out and support the boys and girls basketball teams. Our boys swim team and girls and boys wrestling teams also have home matches this week. I know the teams love it when fans are there to enjoy their contests.
We also have our annual blood drive this week sponsored by the Heath Occupation Student Association (HOSA). The blood drive will be held in the auxillary gym on Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Slots are by appointment and students who are 16 years and older may sign up in the commons during lunches.
The reading for the week is from Edutopia and centers on building relationships with students. In the article, Jorge Valenzuela, discusses strategies that staff can use to affirm students, maintain high expectations and solidify positive relationships. Valenzuela offers three concrete strategies for staff to try.
That's it for now. Let's make it a great week and go DAWGS tonight!
