Fill the Dome
Student Council is excited for Washington to be part of the largest youth led food drive in the United States. Our school wide goal is to collect 1,500 items. If we meet our goal, student council will provide a treat for everyone and classrooms will be able to have a "teacher choice" celebration on Tuesday, November 26. Fliers will go home with your VIP papers with ideas of different kinds of food to donate. Student council would like to encourage everyone to participate in our Fill the Dome food drive November 18-22. Thank you in advance for your donations.
Update Information
Did your phone number change? Have you moved? Please be sure to update your information in Power School.
Warm Clothing
Soon winter will be upon us. Please remind your children to dress warmly for their walk to and from school as well as noon recess. Mittens, gloves, hats, scarves, snow pants, and boots are essential for a North Dakota winter. We use windchill temperatures to help us decide whether students go outside for recess. Our magic number is -15. Bundle up and get ready for winter.
Inclement Weather
We want you to know that we are committed to keeping our school children safe. When storm conditions develop we must make a decision to hold school or not. This decision is based on weather conditions that exist for the majority of Fargo students. If school is in session and it is your decision that your child should remain at home, that decision will be respected by the school.
If school is called off, automated calls will be made to all families. Local radio and television stations will be notified as early as possible. If storm conditions develop during the day and it is determined that an early dismissal is in the best interest of the students, the media will be notified and principals will proceed with an orderly dismissal of school. Elementary principals will dismiss students consistent with instructions provided on the emergency/weather school closing form.
We appreciate your continued cooperation and understanding in this important matter. Be assured that the well being of your children is of the utmost importance to us.
Homework Room
Homework room is available after school for grades four and five. The time is from 3:05 - 4:00 pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in room 52.
V.I.P (Very Important Papers)
In the past every family was issued a Wednesday Folder that was sent home with the youngest student in the family. This folder contained information from the PTA, district information, upcoming opportunities for activities, etc.
This year your family will continue to receive these papers, but without the folder. The youngest student in your family will still receive them on Wednesdays. Please be on the lookout for these papers and any papers that need to be returned should be sent back in your child's classroom communication folder.
Spirit Day
School Access Doors
For security reasons all doors entering Washington School are locked. Visitors will buzz in to enter through our secure doors, sign in and receive a visitor badge. This badge must be visible throughout your visit.
Parents picking up children are asked to wait in the front foyer by the office until the conclusion of the school day. Following dismissal, all doors will be locked. This will include the main entrance. Parents wishing access after hours must buzz in at the main entrance.
