Beautycounter will be partnering with Target THIS SEPTEMBER, nationwide, for a limited partnership. I am on a mission to introduce this amazing company to as many people as possible before this happens. Aging gracefully is more then just good genes. Sometimes it's also about good products.

Why does my skin look eh?

As we age out skin begins to lose it's elasticity leading to that dreaded look of "mature" skin. There are some great ways to combat this. I don't know about you, but I'm not going down without a fight!


Step 1. HYDRATE

Beyond your skin care routine make sure that you are drinking a LOT of water. Most of us are not even getting close to the recommended daily water intake. In general, you should try to drink between half an ounce and an ounce of water for each pound you weigh, every day.” For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, that would be 75 to 150 ounces of water a day. If you’re living in a hot climate and exercising a lot, you’d be on the higher end of that range; if you’re in a cooler climate and mostly sedentary, you’d need less. When I was nursing my body demanded a significant amount of water every day to keep up with the needs of my baby. The unintended side effect: my skin never looked better. Get yourself a water bottle and carry it with you! One of the biggest problems with aging skin is lack of moisture and hydrating from the inside out is one of the best things you can do for your body.


Step 2: SUNSCREEN


The sun zaps moisture from your skin which when you were younger you may not have even noticed. Every morning when I know that I am going to be outside I apply Beautycounter Sun Protect to my clean face. Then I build my makeup on top of that. Many foundations have a built in SPF, but I prefer a good all-over, SPF 30 or higher. This lightweight, water-resistant sunscreen is formulated with non-nano zinc oxide, so it blends seamlessly into skin without leaving white streaks, protecting you against both UVA and UVB rays.
