Mindsets and the Seat Time Waiver
NAEA 2014 Conference
The Future is now with virtual opportunities! It offers a 21st century learning platform by including;
differentiated instruction, curriculum aligned to national standards, profound student success, FTE Growth and is fiscally responsible for school districts in this time of financial crisis. In this interactive, engaging workshop, attendees will learn how to implement 21st Century programming in their own school districts.
A unique alternative can be utilized with just one on-line course or an entire students’ course schedule given via the internet. However, with the vast number of competitor’s platforms emerging without a solid fundamental foundation embedded in the responsibility of the District and Students it can prove to be disastrous.
Presenting the Michigan Department of Education 5-O-B seat time waiver –
(this law has yet to be passed in all states) gives virtual learning methods an opportunity for academic instruction, while the
student does not have to be present in the school for the entire day. This opportunity gives school districts flexibility in implementing innovative teaching and learning models for students that do not fit in the traditional
model of education or even Alternative schools.
This has the potential to lower the national dropout rate by offering the student more viable options in today’s ever changing world.
Programming Areas: Climate and Culture, Collaboration, Curriculum and Instruction, Dropout Prevention, Leadership,
Mission and Purpose, Parent and Guardian Involvement, Program Evaluation, Staffing and Professional Development,
Student Assessment, Transitional Planning and Support
Audience: Teachers, School Counselors/Social Workers, School Administrators
