Akers' Updates

School News
We added an additional teacher in Kindergarten just before Meet the Teacher. Mrs. Nancy Wells is serving as a long-term sub in that classroom until we have a full-time teacher for that spot.
Thank you so much for training students to go the back way (or as I heard one kiddo call it - the "secret way") to the office. This will still take some getting used to - but we will do whatever it takes to keep our kids as possible.
Donors Choose!
In the past, there was a time when Donors Choose was not allowed in CFISD, however, the ban has been lifted (hooray) and we are approved to use Donors Choose IF you follow CFISD's protocol first. Here are the official procedures - it basically involves filling out a form and getting your principal to approve it (your principal is so on board)! Also, know that Chevron is funding projects like CRAZY - so now is a great time to create a project and get books, flexible seating, a standing desk, or other dream-worthy supplies for your classroom! :)
Coach's knee surgery on Thursday went well! He reported that if he had to describe it in one word it would OUCH! Pray for a speedy recovery for Coach!
Mrs. Douglas's mom's surgery went well and she is recovering well!
Mrs. Bales had a scare on Thursday when her husband's school called to tell us that she was needed to take him to the doctor! Of course, all of our minds went to the worst, since he works in Tech. Thankfully, it turns out that he had fallen during a safety drill on his campus and hurt his leg, but it is not broken.
Please welcome our newest staff member, Shelley Hanson, who began on Tuesday. She is working as a para in Life Skills! We are so glad to add her to our Rennell Family! :)
