JSE Monthly Attributes:
Characteristic of a Successful Learner (CSL): Strive for Personal Best
Bucket-Filling Trait: Respect
It's a Marvelous Monday at JSE!
Greetings, JSE Families,
We are well in the learning groove and our schoolhouse is so very happy to have kids eager to see their teacher, excited to work hard, and overjoyed to chat with their friends. This is JSE!
A highlight of each day is your child's specials class. They enjoy either PE with Mr. Smith, Music with Mrs. Willis, Computers with Mrs. Reid, Art with Mr. Dickey, or our new special, Social-Emotional Learning( SEL) with Mrs. Black. We appreciate their dedication to our kids, their passion and expertise, and their team approach to support all areas of our schoolhouse. Below is a picture of Mrs. Black our SEL teacher, with a 1st grade class. This month SEL is focused on all things friendships. This special was developed out of our awareness for the importance of the social-emotional well being and development of each child to achieve their very best. We look forward to the positive impact the SEL special will have on our elementary students. Please visit the link for more information about Mrs. Black and our SEL special in the highlight below. For the coming weeks, I am excited to share more of our students learn in specials.
Save your Strack and Van Til receipts from September to March again, we have partnered with them to earn supplies for our school. You can send them in with your child at anytime.
Lastly, please review the important dates below, picture day is September 24th and order forms will be sent home tomorrow.
Thank you for your partnership!
What are the benefits of SEL?
Students participating in SEL programs have demonstrated improved classroom behavior, increased academic achievement and an increased ability to work through challenges and achieve goals typical of an elementary student. Equally, the SEL program reinforces a positive sense of self to help the students maintain and/or develop positive attitudes about themselves, others, and school.
