CALVIN PARK UPDATE
Week of September 7-11, 2020
Thank you to students, staff, and families for working together to ensure a safe start-up last week! We were amazed to see how everyone adapted to our 'new normal' by following our new routines and safety protocols. It felt so wonderful to be back in school together! Thank you to our amazing staff for their hard work getting everything ready to welcome students during these unique times. We will continue to ask for your patience and support as we work through challenges as they arise this year. Being kind to each other counts more than ever right now!
This newsletter contains a few reminders for families to review before we resume school with our A-L Group on Tuesday. It also contains a link to some updates for families who have chosen to join the Virtual School. Please continue to refer to our school website and the LDSB website for additional information.
If your child has a medical condition or needs to take medication at school, and you haven't filled out the necessary medical forms this year, please contact Ms. Pettingill pettingillw@limestone.on.ca and she will email you the appropriate forms.
If your family borrowed a Chromebook last spring, please send it back with your child (with the power cord) as soon as possible. If your child is joining the Virtual School, and you still need your Chromebook for online learning, please contact the school to let us know.
Thank you, take care of each other and stay well,
Mrs. Elizabeth Suriyuth, Principal suriyuthe@limestone.on.ca
Ms. Wilma Pettingill, Vice-Principal pettingillw@limestone.on.ca

ALL FAMILIES MUST PERFORM A DAILY SELF-ASSESSMENT FOR COVID-19 SYMPTOMS
Staying home when sick is important to help STOP the spread of Covid-19 and other viruses in our community.
♦ Keep the student home.
♦ Report the illness and absence to the student’s school, using the school’s absence reporting tool.
If a student’s symptoms are related to a pre-existing medical condition, seek advice from your health care provider. If the symptoms are new, contact your health care provider or take your child to the COVID-19 assessment centre, visit kflaph.ca/Assessment for testing and guidance.
Please see the KFLA Public Health Covid-19 Parents' Guide for the 2020-2021 School Year for additional information.
ACCESS TO THE SCHOOL IS RESTRICTED AT THIS TIME
ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL REMINDERS
Students who ride the school bus to get to and from school need to enter and exit the school through the main doors. Once the bus loop is ready, students will be dropped off and picked up at a specific location in the loop which we will show them.
Students who walk, ride their bike or are dropped off, need to enter/exit through the side doors. If you are picking up your child at the end of the day, please arrange for a location away from the school to meet your child. Please not park in the round driveway in the front of the school. It is for quick drop off/pick up only. Also, until the bus loop is ready, the buses will line up along the road in the front of the school (including the fenced part of the yard) so please do not stop on either side of the road in front of the school.
Thank you for your cooperation to keep our students safe.

Information About the LDSB Virtual Elementary School
In Limestone, we are supporting Elementary Virtual School students who have opted for remote learning using a phased approach. In Phase 1, families of elementary students who have opted out of returning to in-person school should receive communication from their home school teacher via the students’ Limestone email or phone call to the students’ home. They will be assigned work from their home school from September 8-14 and will be supported by In Phase 2, students will be placed in virtual classes with other elementary students from across the district with a LDSB teacher who will be assigned to the virtual school. Students will then follow a regular timetable for learning as they would in in-person school with online classes beginning at 9 a.m. and ending by 3:20 p.m., Monday to Friday.
If you are having difficulty accessing your students’ Limestone email, or are new to Limestone, please contact the board’s Information Technology Services team at 613.417.3559 Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
