Term 2 Week 8 2023
As a community centred on the example of Christ, the following core values (CARE) underpin our approach.
We value every member of our school community and we are committed to working together to reach our shared goals through mutual support, encouragement, and celebration of our Catholic faith.
We are committed to learning at every level to achieve our personal best.
We have personal and collective responsibility to each other and to the school’s success.
We promote excellence in all that we do.
Loving God, help us to show our Reconciliation candidates your total and unconditional love. Help us to encourage them to grow in love and learn to admit to, and learn from their mistakes. Help them to understand how forgiving you are, and give them the courage to pray and share their faith with their families. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
From Mr Will
Dear Community Members,
Welcome to the Week 8 instalment of Spirit News. Our school is humming at the moment, with all our classes and teachers working so well. When you see me walking through the school you will see me smiling, this is just such an amazing place full of great people!
I am a huge believer in the power of positivity and the infectious nature of this mindset. After mass last Thursday, I spoke with the Year 5 students about how positivity is infectious and how when we surround ourselves with positive people, we experience positivity contagion. We have so many people in our community who exude positivity, which makes our school so special. Well done to all of you, the good word is spreading and so many new families are excited to join our community.
This positivity was on display when attending our Reconciliation Prayer Mass last Sunday, seeing our students choose parishoners to pray for them. Xander very politely requested that I pray for him. What a legend, as one parishioner mentioned, he is a smart lad! I wish all the candidates well as they prepare for this important Sacrament.
As part of our Crisis Management Procedure, we regularly practice Evacuations Drills, usually twice a year. We have an evacuation scheduled for Wednesday 14th June at 10:30am. I have spoken to all the students about this at last week’s assembly, but if you believe your child may get nervous, please feel free to reiterate the message that we practice these drills so that all our students can be safe and calm during an emergency.
A major project over the next few years will be revamping our Kindy/Pre-Primary play space. The first part of this project involves moving the current fencing to encompass more grass area to allow our younger students to run and play. We are planning to complete this project with our groundsman and his trusty sidekick (yours truly) along with any other parents who are interested. We will require a mini digger/ excavator to complete the work. This work will likely be completed one day in the upcoming holidays. If you have access to this type of machinery and would be able to help, please contact me at the school.
I would like to bring your attention to our website upgrades, most of the photos have been updated, there are just a few more to go. I would like to thank Mrs Chatzy for her hard work with this. We have also upgraded the calendar so it is now live and can be synced with your outlook/google/apple cal etc. Please see the link below:
We are also in the final stages of adding a payment facility so online payments can be accepted through the website. Exciting things are happening!
We are still accepting Kindy 2024 and 2025 enrolments, please let family and friends know to express their interest through the online forms on our website. If you have any questions regarding enrolments, please contact our office on 9341 2551.
Information regarding our recent SEQTA issues and steps for how to resolve this were sent to all parents, yesterday Monday June 12. If your issues persist, please contact Natalie Sims via email: firstname.lastname@example.org
I am still holding onto 2nd place in the HSPS ladder, but there are a few very hard rounds of tipping coming up. Well done to Sharon Lund on winning the tipping this week, 6 correct tips and 3 off the margin. The Cats take on Port Adelaide this Thursday night, get in your tips early this week. I’ll be backing the Cats, my confidence isn’t very high….but you have to stay positive!
Until next time, be good to yourselves and look after each other,
