Super Miles Day

Tuesday, Nov. 26th, 8:30am-3:30pm

15 Thelma Drive

Hopkinton, RI

Did you know that we have our very own superhero in Hope Valley School? “Super Miles” as he is known to family and friends has bravely fought liver cancer for three years. Miles received a liver transplant in 2017 and has since undergone chemotherapy and other surgeries to battle his cancer. After exhausting all conventional treatments, Miles was recently granted a new clinical trial drug. He is the first child in the world to trial this. He, and his amazing family, could really use the love and support of our Chariho community as he ventures into the unknown. Throughout all of his treatments and hospital stays Miles remains a silly, beautiful boy! His smile melts the hearts of everyone he meets. He teaches us every day about positivity and seeing the good in every moment. Every time Miles has a procedure or is awaiting results, he and his loved ones wear green to show support.

Let’s go the extra mile for Miles and dress in green on Tuesday, November 26! Use #gogreen4Miles so he can see your pictures!

Miles parents asked that any donations from the day go to The Hasbro Tomorrow Fund, an organization that supports pediatric cancer patients and their families. Containers will be set up in the hallway across from the main office for your child to drop off any spare change. https://www.tomorrowfund.org/

Accountability Report Card

The RI Department of Education (RIDE) sent out each schools report card a couple weeks ago. I am proud to say that Hope Valley School has once again been rated a 5-Star school. That's 2 years in a row of receiving 5-stars and 5 years in a row of receiving a top rating from RIDE. Not many schools in RI can say that. We are so incredibly excited to be, once again, rated as one of the best elementary schools in the state. You can see the actual report that we received below. We earned a 5-star rating because of our high achievement and high growth on the state testing. We have the best students, best teachers, best support staff, and best families.

Hope Valley School Blog

KICKING IT WITH THE ARTS! That is the name of our new school blog related to all the projects at Hope Valley School. Mrs. Girton and I will maintain this blog for now but after winter break the hope is to get some 4th grade students to lead this blog. Check it out by clicking in the link. You can read about some of our school projects and recent cultural assembly last week. Enjoy!

Online Book Party

The PTO is “hosting” an online book party with Usborne Books and More (UBAM). All host rewards will go back to the school for Mrs Ward (our librarian) and Mrs Pastore (our reading specialist) to determine what the school’s needs are. If the “party” reaches $250 in sales the school will get HALF of the total sales worth of free products!!!

Over the next couple of weeks our consultant Joyce will be highlighting some of the many products available. Please share our event and link and encourage friends and family to browse the catalog. There is something for everyone and more than just books too!!!!

The party will close on December 11th so that all orders can be processed and shipped directly to your door in plenty of time for the holidays.

If you need help with anything, feel free to reach out to Joyce and she will be happy to assist.

Gingerbread Express

To help brighten the holidays, Chariho schools will once again offer assistance to families whose children attend school in our district. If your family could use assistance this holiday season, please contact Lynn Larned at Hope Valley by November 26th at 401-315-2826.

Toys and Trading Cards

Trading cards (I.e., Pokeman) and toys from home are not allowed at school. It is in the handbook as well. These things only cause issues because items may break, items me get lost or stolen, items get traded, etc. Please remind your child that they should not be bringing in cards or toys or games to school. Thank you for your attention.
