Libraries Need You!
School Libraries Need You!
We want to encourage you to advocate for our 21st Century learners by asking for more from your school libraries. Our library assistants are taxed with so many duties, it is very hard to give you all you should expect from your libraries. But we must focus our attention on what our libraries can and should do for you. As you fill out your end-of-the-year surveys and reflect on the year's successes, please advocate for full-time librarians as well as full-time libraries. No one likes to see a "Closed" sign on library doors! The video below is very brief, and it's a great snapshot of what today's libraries must do!
School Libraries Matter: The Changing Role of the School Librarian
National Library Week
We celebrate libraries by using them often! Please expect your school library to be open, expect us to have what you need, and expect us to collaborate and connect students, teachers, and families to literacy! Guess what? Reading scores are HIGHER when libraries and classrooms are integrated in their efforts to share reading expectations!
Children's Book Week, May 4-10, 2015
See your library assistant and ask her to share a great new book with your students. Each year we spend from $3,000-$5,000 on new books for your school library. We want you to discover the joy of reading! Feel free to check-out these new titles and share them with your students!
Pebble Go and Pebble Go Next
We now have access to the intermediate Pebble Go database- it's called Pebble Go Next, and includes all 50 states as well as all of our Native American tribes. You can all log-in using this info, and it's free through the end of the year. Use it and let us know if you like it!
