Hello Sunset Lake Families,
This week was a very busy week at Sunset Lake. Our annual WALK-A-THON was spread out over the week and even though our weather didn't always cooperate we were able to get our students' laps in. A big THANK YOU to Krystle Black, our PTSO President, for coming every day to pass out T-shirts, give out prizes and help organize the event for our Sunset Lake Leaders!
We continued our state MSTEP testing with 4th Graders Math, 5th Grade Social Studies and 3rd-grade make-ups. We hope to finish the testing up next week.
We had daily celebrations for our Sunset staff to honor them during National Teacher Appreciation Week. Thank you families for all the love you shared with our Sunset Staff. Special thanks to the Young and Slone Families for treating our staff. Also-- thanks to our Sunset PTSO for our lunch and beautiful gifts.
This week Superintendent O'Neill sent out a letter specifically noting our building and the status of COVID cases at Sunset Lake Elementary. We had several in-person classrooms operating remotely due to a positive COVID-19 case identified in classrooms. We continue to try our best in keeping students in their own space, masked up, and incorporating constant hand-washing/sanitizing. Please help us reduce the spread of COVID-19 by constant monitoring of your child's symptoms each morning and reviewing the Student Screener-shown below. We ask that you keep your child home if you suspect a possible exposure and if anyone in your household is waiting for test results.
Gaiters and masks:
I have recently shared the mask-wearing fatigue our students have been demonstrating. It has also been evident that the gaiters can be a struggle for students to keep up at times. Please talk with your child about trying their best to keep them up while in school. If you are in need of lighter-weight disposable masks, we do have plenty to distribute out for those in need.
PLEASE be sure to ALWAYS contact our office if your child is going to be absent from school so we can track reasons for absences and any possible cases.
Please visit this link at State of Michigan Covid for up-to-date information.
Together we can work to minimize exposure for our students and staff. Thank you!
Thank you Sunset Lake Families!
Yours in Learning,
Sunset Lake Elementary Principal

We will bring your child's material out to you. The best time for pick-up is typically 9-3 pm to help avoid the busy times of drop-off and pick-up times.
