Have a great break!
a message from our superintendent
Good afternoon, WPS Parents and Caregivers,
This is a reminder that we are asking parents and caregivers to complete a culture and climate survey based on their experiences in the Watertown Public Schools. The purpose of this focused dive into our current reality is to provide the District with accurate information about what we have accomplished and where we need to go next as we begin the process of our next round of improvement strategy planning. Your participation in this survey is greatly appreciated, especially during these challenging times. Here you will find the link to the survey. The survey window is open now until December 23.
The survey requires no more than 10 minutes for parents to complete. The parent/caregiver survey is shorter in length and is a supplement to the 5Es survey that educators and students take. Please fill out one survey for each of your children. The survey is available in English and Spanish. If you need the survey translated, please reach out to the ESL department for translations.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to fill out this very important and informative survey.
Dede Galdston, Superintendent of Schools
COVID Update
WHS Students and Families,
As you know, pooled testing was conducted Monday at the high school. Testing resulted in the identification of three positive cases of COVID. Families of those considered close contacts have already been notified. As always, if your student exhibits symptoms of COVID, please keep them home. If you have questions about symptoms or testing, please contact our school nurse.
If your student tests positive during the break, we ask that you notify us so we can update your student's teachers and keep your student caught up with their work. Remember: students that test positive must stay home for 10 days (total days, not school days) from the day they test positive or from the onset of symptoms (day 0), and may return on day 11. Students must also be fever-free for 24 hours and their symptoms must be improved.
We are going to be testing as usual on Monday, January 3rd. Please know that if your student is in a positive pool, we will be calling them into the auditorium on the morning of January 4th for reflex testing. We will notify you as soon as possible if your child tests positive. Negative reflex testing may take more time for notification as we are using our people-power to handle positive notifications first.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to take steps to keep our community healthy.
