Game Day-On Friday we will be celebrate a school spirit day by playing games. Please have your child bring in a board game to play (no electronics please). Please have them bring it in a shopping bag.
Bingo Night -Family Fun Night Committee is having Bingo Night on Friday, at Tohickon Middle School. I have volunteered to call numbers. I'm not sure of the time yet. I'll let you know.

Curriculum for the Week
Reading
This week we will be reading the story His Majesty the King. The children will be reviewing basic story elements.
We will also be focusing on the following:
- identifying the main characters and setting
- identifying the initiating events
- identifying the relationships among characters
- identifying how the main character plans to solve the problem
- identifying the story resolution
Math
This week we will be working on the following skills:
- define, name and draw line segments
- introduce the concepts of parallel and parallel line segments
- review polygons
- develop readiness for multiplication
- identify the names and characteristics of various quadrangles
Writing
This week the children will continue to learn how to write a personal narrative. They will be writing about getting a pet. We will also be how author's use personal voice to get their point across. We will be reviewing adjectives.
Spelling
We will be working on Sort 21 which is short i vowel. Please remember to have your child practice their spelling words using the Spelling City website https://www.spellingcity.com/gayman/. Please look for Sort 21 for this week's words.
Social Studies-Geography
We will be continuing our geography unit this week. The children will be identifying geography features and locating them on a map.
Personal Safety Lesson
On Tuesday we will be talking about staying away from strangers and practicing using strategies to get away from them. Please see the attached letter for my information.

This Week's Homework
For your reference I will be posting the homework each week on our newsletter. Please keep in mind that sometimes I will need to change the homework, because we might not get through everything that I want to cover and I will need to change it. I will send an email if I have to do that. The children will still be copying the homework each day in thier homework books.
