Curriculum Corner
We will be wrapping up figurative language this week and will shift our focus to the elements of poetry, prose, and drama. There will be a quiz on Friday to assess their knowledge of the elements of each type of literature. There will be a vocabulary section and a section where they will be applying the knowledge to samples of literature. Students should be bringing home information each day to help them study. Next week, the kids will get to try their hand at writing their own poetry!
Math:
We will be wrapping up unit 6 this week. We will be focusing on work problems and reviewing this chapter. Study guides are due Wednesday, April 18 and the test will be Friday, April 20.
Science:
The first of our critters have arrived in our classroom! Yesterday, we started our experiment with our brine shrimp. We are testing the salinity of water to see what the range of tolerance it for hatching brine shrimp eggs. Our mealworms and isopods arrive tomorrow.

Jump Rope for Heart
We are JUMPING FOR HEALTHY HEARTS! Our school is participating in Jump Rope for Heart and raising money for the American Heart Association. Over the next 2 weeks, students will be participating in many jumping activities during wellness, learning about how and why to be heart healthy, and raising funds to support cardiovascular research and education to help save lives! With your support, students can register on-line, take a "Heart Healthy Pledge", and help make a difference in the lives of others. Please review the packet that your student brought home, help them set-up their on-line donation site (optional), and reach out to friends and family for donations. You can go to the attached school link and learn more about how your child can be a part of the Scare Squad and help Stonegate Elementary scare away heart disease and help children! Donations will be collected through April 27th.
