Keep in mind that the purpose of the STAAR test is to see how students have mastered the skills taught all year, and it is just one of the many measures we use to ensure that students have mastered the skills needed to be successful next year.
LVES is a designated No Place For Hate Campus!
There is an end of year activity for our Project Vinatta student coalition on Friday, May 18th. The student coalition group will travel to the PAC with other campus student coalitions to participate in year end activities. Mrs. Sexton sent home a permission slip and information about this event.

Student Placement Forms - PK -2nd Grade Students Only
As at any campus, the faculty for next year may change throughout the spring and summer due to personal choice, personnel changes and campus needs/growth. Therefore, specific teacher requests for your child will not be accepted.
We would like to give parents the opportunity to share their thoughts regarding their PK-2nd grade child's characteristics and needs within the learning community. Again, specific teacher requests will not be accepted. If you would like to provide input for your child, please fill out the Student Placement Profile and return to the front office on or before Friday, May 18th. This is a firm deadline. Forms submitted after this date will not be considered.

It's always a good idea to leave the sandals, flip flops and dress shoes at home, as our students have PE and/or recess everyday. Tennis shoes are a much safer shoe option for our LVES Vikings, especially on PE days.

Counselor's Corner
Hello LVES Families! It is with great excitement that I announce that with the hard work and dedication of our Project Vinátta student coalition, and our campus-wide participation, Lago Vista Elementary is now a designated No Place for Hate® school! Our school activities this year that promoted kindness, anti-bullying, and respecting all people have earned us this award from the Anti-Defamation League®. This is the first year our campus has earned this designation, and my goal is to help us attain it every year!
This is our last week of guidance lessons for the school year, and we have been learning what it means to have Gratitude. When children understand what it means to be grateful for what they have, it can have a positive effect on their attitude and perspective. At home, think about starting a gratitude journal with your child! Get a blank notebook (I have many--if you’d like for me to send one home with your child, let me know!) and work together to design it. Each night, or as often as possible, spend time together adding the things you are thankful for.
“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.” ~Oprah Winfrey
¡Hola familias LVES!
~Oprah Winfrey
