March 10, 2023
Even though the calendar says March, judging by the snowfall this morning I would venture to say that Spring has not quite sprung just yet. Before we pack up and head out to our spring break destinations let's get caught up to speed with all the news and happenings at YCIS.
For the first time in four years our 6th graders had the opportunity to attend Outdoor School this week at Cedar Ridge in Vernonia. Despite some rain, snow and sleet both students and our fearless teachers appear to have had a memorable experience (see pics below).
This week we have opened up a student store. The student store will be open on Wednesday during the students' designated recess. Students will be able to buy things with Tiger Cash that will be earned throughout the school year. Some of these items include pencils, erasers, candy, snacks, bracelets, stickers, etc. Students can also purchase a raffle ticket for an chance to win a "Big Ticket" prize at our next assembly.
Also, students can purchase Lucky Grams on Monday and Tuesday of next week during lunch in the cafeteria. These are items you can buy for someone and have them delivered on St. Patrick's day. These items include: Lollipops (.50 Cents, Cookies ($1.00) and Candy Bars ($1.50) with a special note attached. Thank you to Ms. Foley and our leadership class for making the student store and Lucky Grams possible.
Come support the YCIS Parent Teacher Organization on Friday April, 21 at 6:00 for a Family Bingo Night. This is a community event for the entire family. See flyer below.
Are You Tiger Tough? This month's Tiger trait is having a Growth Mindset. When you have a growth mindset you learn from your mistakes, you accept new challenges and you work to improve skills. Tigers demonstrating an exceptional Growth Mindset will be recognized at this month's Tiger Tough assembly.
