Making Interpretive Reading Goals
Jogging and Colleges
Another fun and full week. We enjoyed our annual Jog-a-thon on Wednesday and the weather was absolute perfect. I honestly think it was the best weather we've had for a JAT day. On top of our fun with JAT, we celebrated a district-wide College Go Week. We talk about different post-secondary educational options and sparked some interest in new options for kids.
Our energy unit has been electrifying - literally! We have been working on building series circuits and parallel circuits. We took it one step further and we are determining the need for both - the pros and cons.
In math, we started our second unit this week and we have been mostly focusing on square numbers and area formulas. The students made some posters for the classroom to show off their knowledge on square numbers. We are hitting mathematical words hard this unit. Each day, we focus on using proper terminology to connect with lesson.
In writing, we are starting to finalize our narrative stories. Most are still working on the final touches and a few are ready for their final drafts and then on to typing!
In reading, we started a short book club we will enjoy for the next week. Our goal with the book club is to read the same book as other peers and create grandiose ideas for debatable topics. The class is excited to get into a few debates with one another.
Coming up next!
- Math: We will continue into our geometry topics, but we will start the week making personal goals in math.
- Reading: We will dive deeper into our book club books and create ideas for a strong debate.
- Science: We will test Tuesday on Circuits.
- Writing: We will finalize our narrative stories!
