LEVELING UP IN 2020
Howdy Hounds!
This week we began preparations for the second nine weeks. Fortunately, we are able to transition into the second nine weeks with minimal changes to our class schedules or campus procedures. If you have a hound that is transitioning from virtual to on-campus instruction for the second nine weeks, please be sure to see the important flyer below regarding our Back to Campus Drive-Thru on October 22nd. We want to ensure that your hound is ready to go when the second nine weeks starts on Monday, October 26th. Teachers of students transitioning back will begin reaching out to parents on Monday to let them know classroom assignments, as the changes will not be made in Skyward until the 26th to allow students to continue to have access to their virtual learning tools in the interim.
As a reminder, October 29th and 30th are early dismissal days for our students. Students will be released at 11:30am. The afternoons provide dedicated time for our teachers to engage in Parent/Teacher Fall Conferences based on student observation and progress during the first nine weeks. Be on the look out for sign-up times from your child's teacher. All conferences will be held via Zoom this year. Although the conferences will technically take place during the first week of the second grading period, if you child switched teachers, the first nine-weeks teacher will still be the one holding the conference in order to provide you with detailed insight into your child's progress.
Next week is Character Counts Week, and our amazing counselors have some fun things planned for our students. Be sure to check out the flyer below to begin preparations for our dress up days!
Next Week is also School Bus Safety Week, and we are celebrating our amazing bus drivers! Please help us show them some love for their hard work and dedication to our hounds!
We hope you have a great weekend! Enjoy this cooler weather while you can!
Sincerely,
Bethany Cunningham

CHARACTER COUNTS! Week is here!
We know that our Hounds always show GOOD CHARACTER – and next week (October 19-23), we really want to see it! Every day we will focus on a specific character trait which will include fun dress-up days, some character-building activities and double the character cash!
On Thursday, we will be showing CITIZENSHIP and hosting a drive for Common Threads, which serves the entire LCISD community. For more information on Common Threads, check out this video.
The following week is Red Ribbon Week (October 23-31). Look for more information next week on how we will be helping to get the conversation started about preventing the use of drugs and alcohol in our children!
Smart Tag Parent Portal (repeat)
The Parent Portal for SMART Tag was opened on Monday, September 21ST. Parents can now register and view their child’s ridership information via the Parent Portal. Parents may see when and where their child got on and off the bus via a webpage on their computer or smart device. They may also receive notifications via text that the bus will soon be at their morning stop. Additional information can be found by clicking here. The link provides detailed steps, including videos, on how parents can get registered.

Face Coverings (Repeat)
Students are required to bring two dress code approved masks/face coverings daily. One will be worn, and one additional mask/face covering will be brought in a sealed/ziploc bag. Labeling of the masks with a student name is suggested.
Mask questions we have received:
Can my child wear a face shield? Full-face shields may be used in place of a mask to protect eyes, nose, and mouth whenever a mask is not feasible or whenever the education context may benefit from the ability to see an individual’s full face.
Can my child wear a neck gaiter/buff? Yes, these are also approved.
Does the mask have to be a Huggins uniform color? No. Masks may be any color or design. However, no inappropriate language or images will be allowed.
***Please note that BSN Sports has graciously donated Huggins Hounds lanyards that will be given to students on the first day of school. Students will be able to use these lanyard to attach their masks so that they do not get lost.
Please click below for more information regarding face coverings.
