Poem In Your Pocket Day
April 30, 2015
Do you have a poem in your pocket?
On Thursday, April 30th, we are going to celebrate the end of National Poetry Month by carrying a poem in our pockets. Find a poem, write it out and keep it in your pocket all day. Share the poem with a friend or teacher. If you share it with Mrs. Hensley, you will get a ticket for the Books & Bikes drawing on Friday!

Who is your favorite poet?
I have two favorite poets. The first poet I loved was Judith Viorst. She is well-known for her books about Alexander (when he used to be rich on Sunday, etc.) I found her poems to realistic and relevant to kids. My favorite adult poet is Langston Hughes. I love the beautiful language and vivid pictures he paints with his words. Do you have a favorite poet? I'd love to hear your poem--come share with me!
