Mr. Corso’s Principal’s Message
Positive Raiders: Responsible, Respectful, Hard Working and Kind
This Week’s Positive Message: This week, I read to students over the announcements...Black Mountain is a unique place. We are a diverse school with many different perspectives and cultures represented. Sometimes it is difficult for people who are different to get along. But diversity is our greatest strength. As President John F Kennedy said of going to the moon, (assimilating different people) “makes us better not because it's easy but because it's hard.” Learning to accept others for who they are and respecting our differences will make you stronger and our school a better place. A better school starts with each one of us.
Coffee with the Principal: Our next Coffee with the Principal is Tuesday, January 14th. Our agenda will include the upcoming PUSD Bond and information about 6th Grade Camp. Hope to see you there! Bring a friend.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Book Fair is coming! Volunteers are needed before school, lunch, after school, and after Band concerts from December 6th to December 13th. Volunteers will set up fair, facilitate book sales, stock shelves, ring up purchases, and tear down the fair. Volunteers need to be Level 1 or Level II volunteers. Please click on the link to sign up. https://signup.com/go/YUsyosu
Good luck to our Science Olympiad team as they compete on Saturday in Fullerton, CA.
We appreciate everyone’s efforts to avoid taking extra days off during the holidays. Just a few missed days here and there, even for excused absences, can add up to lost learning time and leave your student behind in school. We appreciate your support.

Student Driven Jacket & Blanket Drive
Officially, winter starts on the 21st of December. As all of us are fortunate enough, we have jackets, warm clothes, and a shelter. But some people aren’t as fortunate as us. Most of the times, they live outside without warm clothes. To help these people keep warm, we are collecting gently used adult jackets (men's and women’s) and Blankets from the 4th to the 20th of this month. We will distribute the jackets to the homeless people on the 23rd in Downtown. Our goal as a school is to collect around 30 to 40 gently used jackets. The bins for the jackets are placed in the following areas:
1) PE locker rooms
2) Main office
3) Library
Please talk to your parents and bring unused or gently used jackets and help the homeless people to keep them warm during the winter.
Thank you for your time Raiders!
