Covid-19 Update
St Elizabeth's Catholic Primary School | March 4, 2022
Message from the Principal
Dear parents and caregivers,
St Elizabeth's CPS have received information that two members of our school community have tested positive for COVID-19 and were in attendance in Kindergarten and Year 5/6 from Tuesday, March 1 to Wednesday March, 2.
Students and staff identified as close contacts have been advised and are required to get tested and remain in isolation for 7 days. These students and staff can return to school on Wednesday March 9 provided they have not developed any symptoms and have returned either a negative PCR on Day 6 or RAT on or after Day 7.
This development may make your child feel worried or anxious, as it may for many of us who are parents. It is important to remember that you can help your child at this time, first by listening attentively to their concerns, and then by providing some reassurance.
Advice for all families and staff:
- The school remains open.
- If your child was not in the Kindergarten or Year 5/6 class at the same time as the case, your child is not required to quarantine and should attend school.
- If staff were not in the Kindergarten or Year 5/6 class for more than two hours and NOT wearing a mask during this time, they are not required to quarantine and should attend school.
- As for everyone in Western Australia, we ask that you monitor your student/yourself for symptoms of COVID-19 and get tested and isolate until you receive a negative result, if symptoms develop.
- Please note that the Omicron strain can present with less typical symptoms such as diarrhoea, particularly in children.
- If you or your child develops symptoms, please do not attend school.
As a Catholic school, the safety and wellbeing of our students is always our priority as is showing care and support for all members of our community. I would ask that you pray for our community members who are now having to isolate, and thank you for your support in this time. I have organised for the school to undergo a deep clean to take place before the students return on Tuesday. Please refrain from sharing this news via social media and allow the school, CEWA and WA Health to communicate the facts – protecting both the privacy and dignity of all concerned.
I will keep you updated with any new information. Please be alert for further communication from ourselves and WA Health.
While we are fortunate this time, it serves as a reminder that everyone in Western Australia should continue to follow the WA Health advice and monitor for symptoms of COVID-19.
If you have queries or concerns regarding your child please contact me. If you have health concerns, please contact WA Health on 1300 316 555 or at http://PHOpsClinical@health.wa.gov.au
Kind regards
Rebecca Clarke
