To allow for limited and reasonable uses as long as the use does not interfere with the owners' right or impede their right to do with the work as they wish

Things to think about before using copyrighted images

Understanding the term fair use- Fair use means that your allowed to infringe on someone else's copyright and they cant do anything about it.

Why are you using this image? Purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or research are acceptable

Have you transformed the image? If you transform an image, it no longer resembles the image- there is a greater likelihood of finding an exception to copyright infringement

How much of the image are you using? If you are using a thumbnail and linking the original location, there is greater likelihood of finding fair use
