Principal's Corner with Mrs. Montecucco
Dear Families,
Safety matters! We appreciate all of our families that drop off and pick up their student in a safe and orderly fashion. We LOVE greeting our kids each and every day. In the morning we kindly ask that parents/guardians do not block our crosswalk, flip a U Turn or drop off with your car facing oncoming traffic. Again, in almost witnessing several accidents recently we did want to send a warm reminder.
Additionally, we would like to remind our families of needing to pick up students early for appointments to be done before 3:00. End of day changes in plans we know happens but in order to effectively call students to the office this does need to be done before 3:00. Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Montecucco and Ms. Larsen

Counselor Corner
Hello Sunset Families!
As we continue our SEL lessons at each grade level, I wanted to share what your students are working on between now and Spring Break.
We are continuing with the Second Step curriculum in grades 2, 3 and 5. They are learning the 4 STEPs of problem solving. The steps are: S-Say the Problem, T-Think of Solutions, E-Explore Possible Outcomes, and P-Pick a Solution.
1st graders are learning the difference between big problems and small problems, various ways to solve problems, and when to ask an adult for help using Kelso’s Choice curriculum.
4th graders are learning about decision making, friendships skills, refusal skills, and the perception of harm/risk related to drug use (particularly smoking/vaping and alcohol) using the Too Good for Drugs curriculum.
If you have any concerns for your child or need resources or referrals, I can be reached by phone, email or stopping in.
Take care,
