AISM January NEWSLETTER
2022 News & Notes
Director's Message
Dear AISM Community,
Happy New Year! Wishing everyone a healthy and happy 2022!
We were expecting to start January full speed ahead. However, Omicron had different plans. As you know by now across the globe there has been a surge in COVID cases. The good news is most people are experiencing milder symptoms. No one could have predicted what a toll this variant would have on so many people. If you or your child are experiencing any symptoms please get tested and stay at home. We are committed to the health and safety of our community. We will continue to keep everyone updated regularly.
Luckily, we were able to spread the joy of the holidays before Omicron struck. We had a festive Holiday Season thanks to the wonderful work of ALL of the AISM PTA. Mrs.Cia Shanid & Mrs.Puneet Sachdev have done a wonderful job as Co-Presidents this year.
Additionally, the hard work and dedication of Mrs. Rana Eid and Mrs. Naz Dakroub for chairing the PTA Winter Holiday Committee with the support & assistance of our 5/6 Teacher Ms. Xena Nam. There were actually 3 events planned for the Holiday Season: collecting and wrappings toys/treats, a Holiday Sing A long which was a magical evening of song and dance and the actual day of giving where we distributed 100 bags of rice and containers of oil, along with other food staples for our community right outside our gates. This year we more than doubled the giveaway items from last year.
The biggest takeaway was that the students were involved in every aspect of the festivities. The elementary students wrapped the donated items for other children. The MS/HS students helped to set up and distribute the rice, oil and food items. Everyone young and old found a tune at the Sing A long that they knew and sang along. Moreover, the giving didn't stop there, two of our grade 7 girls Alana and Amu spent a weekend on their own providing gifts and lunch for a local orphanage. Also, our Model United Nations students along with the AISM Student Council collected and donated food and personal items to a local orphanage, under the direction of Mr. Parchment- the AISM MUN Coordinator.
Please enjoy the pictures and thank you for your continued support of AISM.
