SOS - Signs of Suicide

As in years past, LHS Counselors and Social Workers will use the SOS Signs of Suicide Program to teach students about mental health and how to seek help if they are worried about themselves or a friend. On Thursday, October 6, 2022, LHS will be showing an eight minute age appropriate video clip followed by a review of the warning signs and symptoms of depression and suicide and what to do if they are concerned about themselves or a friend. Following the presentation students will be asked to complete a brief google survey which will ask whether they would like to talk to an adult about any concerns. The results of this survey will go directly to our counseling and social work department to follow up with any students requesting assistance. After reaching out to these students, parents/guardians will be contacted. If you wish to have your student OPT OUT of this activity please call the guidance office at 816-736-7046 or email your student's guidance counselor.
