A Statement from Our Executive Director

To Our Community,

Racism and social injustice have no place in our communities. We are thinking about our families, staff, and students as the country continues to grapple with the tragic and continued loss of African American lives. At Memphis School of Excellence, we believe in the importance of social and educational equality for all people, and that only together can America truly be a nation worthy of our children’s futures.

Ten years ago Memphis School of Excellence opened its doors with a simple goal: to ensure access to a high-quality education to each and every child, regardless of race, gender, religious belief, socio-economic background, or neighborhood. Our commitment to that mission remains, and it is clear that the work is not done.

As educators, we recognize the unique role we have in working with families to help our students navigate through the difficult and unjust events currently taking place in our nation.

Together, we must work harder to build better, safer, more just communities.
