Late Start Mondays- Update
CRHS Late Start Mondays for Trimester 2 are on the following days: 1/23, 1/30, 2/6, 2/13, 2/27
Registration for 2023-24 School Year
We want to remind students and families that student course requests for registration for the 23-24 school year must be entered into StudentVue by Tuesday, January 17th. Current 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students need to complete this process in order to register for classes for next year!

Counselors will be available for assistance before and after school outside of the Counseling Office and also in the lunchroom on Tuesday. For more detailed registration questions, you can also email your specific counselor directly.
We ask that you spend time together as a family looking at the Registration documents linked below for the grade your student will be in next year. Again all requests need to be entered into StudentVUE and your worksheet turned into your CORE teacher by Tuesday, January 17th.
CRHS Celebrates Transportation Person Appreciation Day
CRHS Celebrated Transportation Person Appreciation Day on Wednesday by having Cardinal leaders share cider and cookies with our hard work crossing guards, bus supervisors, and bus drivers. We couldn’t do it without them- so please take a minute to wave and say “thank you” to these tremendous team members for all they do to make Cardinal Nation such a special place to be!
And, as always, thank you to our CRHS student leaders for helping us celebrate our transportation staff!
Cardinal Activities Moves to Cashless Ticketing
Exciting news- Coon Rapids High School has gone cashless for all athletic events at either CRHS or Northdale MS. Concession stands will still be cash only. The means for purchasing online tickets in advance and at the gate remain the same. Use the link below to purchase tickets. Students can also find the QR code for purchasing tickets in different locations throughout the building including the Wall of Tweets. Please have the barcode ready via your phone, or have a print-out ready when you arrive at the ticket table. Seniors 60+ continue to be free for all regular season games, and do not require a ticket.

CRHS DECA Competes at District Competition
This past weekend members of Coon Rapids DECA competed at the MN District 4 Career Development Conference. Among the 27 DECA members that attended the competition, there were 21 students that qualified for state in at least one event! Some of the highlights at the conference included 32 overall team or individual finalists for Coon Rapids High School.
Coon Rapids had 8 students who qualified for state in two of their events. A special recognition goes to Madi Froslie, Edward Tabla, and Anna Kelley who will be participating in State in three events!
In addition to the state qualifiers Jordanna Bradford, Madi Froslie, Madeleine Larson, Jon Pokrzywa, Josiah Ashworth, and Miranda Froslie all earned a top twenty-five exam score at the conference.
These students will be competing in March at the DECA Minnesota State Career Development conference, for the right to represent Minnesota DECA at the International Career Development Conference in Orlando, FL this April.
All the DECA members who attended should be applauded for their excellent showing. Lastly, Mr. Bodenburg would like to thank all the DECA members who competed in the District 4 competition for their respectful and professional behavior at the conference. Thank you and congratulations!

Free Dental Care for underserved Children

FREE DENTAL CARE FOR UNDERSERVED CHILDREN
Friday, Feb. 3 & Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023
Give Kids a Smile is a charitable outreach program that provides free dental care to underserved children (typically ages 3-18). Dental clinics throughout the state volunteer to provide these services during Children’s Dental Health Month.
WHEN IS IT?
February 3 and 4, 2023
(Some clinics hold events on alternative dates.)
LOCATION?
Volunteer dental clinics across the state.
HOW ARE APPOINTMENTS MADE?
Families can locate a participating clinic by visiting www.mndental.org/gkas or contacting the United Way by dialing 2-1-1 or texting the zip code to 898-211.They can then contact the clinic directly to schedule an appointment.
Please, help us get the word out!
Many children have never been to the dentist and are suffering from untreated dental care – possibly many that you work with. We ask you to please inform families about this event so their children can get the needed care they desperately need.
Flyers and other materials are easily accessible by visiting the MDA website. Please print and post fliers, distribute information sheets, and forward this email to your network of professionals who work with families (schools, agencies, clients, and other organizations).
Remember, because this program is focused on providing dental care to children who face barriers to accessing dental care, families will NOT be asked any eligibility questions.

CRHS Hosts Open Fab Lab Fab Lab “Community Creates” Opportunities
Come and get hands-on experience using the CRHS Fab Lab tools this Trimester between 6:30-8:00pm in room 122 on any of the following dates in January: 1/17, 1/19, 1/24, 1/26, 1/31. This is meant as a chance to create and play using the amazing technology our students use! If you come, please enter our back Activities Entrance Door 16.
What is a Fab Lab? It’s a small-scale workshop offering personal digital workshops. A Fab Lab is equipped with an array of flexible computer-controlled tools with the aim to make almost anything. These devices can be tailored to personal needs on any project desired. CRHS Fab Lab devices/equipment include:

Senior "Ads for Grads" for the 2022-2023 Yearbook
Senior Parents-
Senior Year is an important milestone in many student's lives and it’s important to find creative ways to commemorate your student’s senior year, celebrate all of their hard work and accomplishments throughout their school career, and let them know that you love and are proud of them. A fun and easy way to do this is to place a recognition ad, or an “Ad for Grads”, in the 2022-2023 Yearbook.This is something that your student can look back on for years to come.
It is very simple to create an “Ad for Grad.” Just visit www.jostensadservice.com and you can begin creating your ad today using your favorite photos of your son or daughter and a personal message. You can choose any photos you like: a baby photo, a grade school photo, or just a photo of your student that you love--you can even take a picture of the photo you want to use and upload that image from your phone.
- Photos may be in color or black and white, and you pick the fonts and background.
- Ads are available in two different sizes, 1/4 page for $60 or 1/8 page for $40.
- The Ads for Grads deadline is January 13, 2023.

PSEO Informational Meeting February 7th during Parent Teacher Conferences
All students interested in participating in the PSEO (Post-Secondary Enrollment Options) next year, must attend the PSEO meeting during Parent Teacher conferences on Tuesday, February 7th at 5:30pm In the Auditorium. Family members are welcome to attend. We'll cover info on PSEO, how to apply, & details about how PSEO relates to high school graduation. An Anoka-Ramsey Community College representative will be presenting about PSEO from the perspective of the colleges. In the meantime, please check out the PSEO information on our website.and complete Steps 1 and 2 on the TO DO list. IF you are already in the PSEO program this year, you do NOT need to attend-just connect with your counselor on your plan for next year.

Volunteer Opportunities
CONFERENCE MEAL and SNOW DAZE!
Has your schedule not allowed you to volunteer but you still really want to help out? This may be just the opportunity for you! We will be hosting a “grab and go” conference meal for our staff on Tuesday, February 7th. Many donations are needed for this to work (as well as a few volunteers). Also, if you know of a local restaurant that would love to spoil our staff with some free goodies please let me know! Check out the Sign up Genius for more information
A snow day can bring mixed emotions…but this Snow Daze is sure to please everyone! The Snow Daze Dance will be held on Friday, February 10th and we are looking for a few awesome volunteers to chaperone. This is such a fantastic opportunity to support our students in a fun, unstructured environment.
Volunteers are such an incredible asset to the students here at CRHS. Let’s make sure your impact is recorded and recognized. Class of 2023 Senior Yard Signs Available for Purchase
Class of 2023 Seniors and families:
Purchase your Class of 2023 yard sign in support of the Senior All Night Party. The first set of signs will be ready for pick up on December 12th and must be paid in full prior to pickup. If you have any questions on payment, please email audra.hyatt@ahschools.us.
Coon Rapids High School Food Shelf and Compassion Fund
The School Social Work Department maintains a small food shelf to assist families in crisis. Food is organized in small care packages and sent home in backpacks and cinch sacks. We are particularly in need of nonperishable ready serve meals. Some examples include Canned Raviolios, Packaged Pasta Meals, Stew, Chili, Ramen Cups, Soup Cups, Mac and Cheese Cups, Compleats. Snacks such as granola bars, breakfast bars, and snack crackers would also be appreciated. The list of all our current needs can be found at this link: CRHS Food Shelf and Compassion Fund Needs.
The Cardinal Compassion Fund is used to help students and families facing crises. Checks can be written to AHEF with Carinal Compassion Fund identified as the recipient in the memo line. Checks can either be dropped off in the main office or mailed to CRHS, Attn: Lana Matthews, 2340 Northdale Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55433.
