Hi Hansen Students, Parents, and Families!

We have had another exciting week here at the Hansen with our students, and ended today with a great day of professional learning with our staff. At the Hansen much of our staff spent some time this morning engaging in an introduction to restorative practice, while we continued with our ongoing learning around literacy instruction in the afternoon. We hope today provided our students with opportunities to relax, play, and have fun!

Please enjoy some of this weeks' Hansen highlights through the pictures below...

Creating A Culture of Achievement, Equity, Inspiration, and Joy!

March 21 Is World Down Syndrome Day

World Down Syndrome Day is on Monday, March 21st. This is a day to bring awareness and to help advocate for the rights of those with Down syndrome. To show support, individuals are encouraged to wear blue and yellow and/or mismatched socks, and we invite all of our students and staff to show their support!

For anyone that is interested in more information about World Down Syndrome Day, please take a moment to review their website here.

Hearing and Vision Screenings

As a friendly reminder, we will be conducting hearing and vision screenings for students in K-4 on Monday and Tuesday of next week. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Hansen School Nurse, Bethany Glennon at glennonb@cantonma.org.

Scholastic Book Fair at Hansen

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to the Hansen next week! Thank you to our Hansen CAPT for organizing this experience for our students. Each class will have the opportunity to visit the Book Fair during their regularly scheduled Library block, and there is also an opportunity for students and families to visit during the afternoon on Wednesday, March 16 between 3:00 - 6:00.

We look forward to having opportunities for each student to get their hands on some new and exciting books! If anyone is in need of any financial assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at brauningerd@cantonma.org.

Boosterthon!

Our school Boosterthon and Hansen Fun Run is fast approaching! This week, members from the Boosterthon team met with Hansen staff to share information and finalize plans, and we will be sending all of the important 'kick-off' information to families in the coming days!

The Boosterthon team will be on campus with our students and staff beginning March 29 and staying through our Fun Run event, which is scheduled for Wednesday, April 6. We are hoping for some great weather to allow for an outdoor run, and are looking forward to all of the excitement and energy that is coming our way! The students will have a blast, while at the same time, raising funds to go towards the Hansen School for enrichment opportunities.

Be on the lookout for more information coming soon!
