Stoller/FLEX Science Olympiad Team won the State Tournament!
The 15 member 2021 Science Olympiad State Championship winning team is the “Stoller Flexers”, a combination team from FLEX Online School and Stoller Middle School. The team participated in 21 events against other Oregon middle school teams winning 14 gold and 7 silver medals. The team will represent the state of Oregon and compete at the 37th Annual Science Olympiad National Tournament hosted by Arizona State University on May 21-22, 2021.
120 Teams from around the nation will represent their states at the highest level of academic achievement in science, technology, engineering, and math. The weekend will feature intense competition among 120 of the best Science Olympiad teams in the nation, striving for honors in events like Disease Detectives, Reach for the Stars, Crime Busters and Experimental Design. Each of the 23 events requires in-depth understanding of rigorous science content, teamwork, and real-world problem solving.
The team is coached by Anju Babaria and Hitendra Babaria along with several parent volunteers and teachers from Stoller Middle School and FLEX Online School.

Fake & Fatal
During the last week of April, the District will be sponsoring a fentanyl awareness campaign, entitled “Fake & Fatal: One Pill Can Kill.” You’ll see social media posts on our district’s and our schools’ social media accounts. We’ll be promoting information and resources on our district website. Our students will be getting information in their health classes over the next month. Our administrators will be receiving specific fentanyl training. And we’ll be hosting a virtual “Community Conversation about Fentanyl: Fake & Fatal” on Thursday, April 29 at 7 p.m. You can participate by watching live on the district’s YouTube channel or Facebook page. We’ll be taking questions via social media. Our panelists will include representatives from the Washington County Public Health Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Department and Beaverton Police Department.
During that conversation, we’ll also be hearing from Jennifer and Jon Epstein, former Cedar Park Middle School and Sunset High School parents who lost their son, Cal, to fentanyl poisoning in December. We want to publicly thank the Epsteins for their courage and willingness to share their story with hopes of saving other children’s lives. Below is a preview of what they’ll be discussing.
