Year 10 Work Experience
A massive well done to all those Year 10 students and their parents for sorting out their work experience placements. It is great to see how many exciting places the students will get to experience. There are still some students that have yet to find a placement. We are hopeful that by extending the deadline to 1st March 2024 that this will give the students time over the next few weeks including half term to approach companies and secure a placement. Thank you to the parents and students that have be in contact with Careers with an update of where they are up to. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you need any further guidance, advice or help in finding a placement.

Year 11 Destinations Day - Colchester Institute
On Friday 16th February some of our Year 11 students will be going on a trip to Colchester Institute. We will have a tour of the campus, look at some of the most popular courses on offer and listen to a talk from their team. A letter and Google form has been sent out to the parents of those who are invited to attend. Could we please ask that if you haven't already, to complete the Google Form that was sent to you.
Please note, the students do not have to be considering Colchester Institute as their destination after Year 11, this trip is an insight into college life.
The remaining Year 11 students will be having an exciting and informative day at our Sixth Form Taster session. Please look out for further details on this from our sixth form team.
National Apprenticeship Week - 5th to 9th February 2024
As well as assemblies last week from our local colleges we also have lots of information about Apprenticeships on our website, in the careers library and around the school.

This week in tutor time our students in Years 7– 11 have been continuing to look at the 5 Ways to Wellbeing related to the elements of connect, take notice, be active, keep learning and give. This is in support of Children’s Mental Health Week.
Year 7 – Promoting emotional health during Key Stage 3
Year 8 – Stress coping strategies
Year 9 – Reframing failure
Year 10 – Understanding and managing anxiety and depression
Year 11 – Keeping active during revision
Please click here for a link to the school website where these presentations can be viewed.
The assemblies this week have been celebrating LGBT history month.

Year 8 Natural History Museum Trip
The Science Department are planning to take Year 8 students to the Natural History Museum in London on Monday 29th April 2024 and Tuesday 30th April 2024. Please refer to the letter sent home and confirm attendance of your child via Google form by Friday 1st March 2024. In order for this visit to take place we will need to seek a contribution of £16.50 per student payable via Wisepay (final costing will be made when numbers are confirmed).
Board Games Plea
The Student Council have identified that students would love a wider choice of board games, including playing cards and chess sets, to play at break and lunch time in the Library.
If you have any appropriate board games that you no longer want, we would love to give them a new home.
Please can you drop them into reception for Mrs Dineen.
Prayer Space
English GCSE Clinic
The English department are running an English Clinic for Year 11 students every Thursday after school from 3.15pm to 4.15pm in N3.
If you have an English problem or you are finding an aspect of the course challenging there will be a member of the team on hand to help you with your needs.
Mathematics Past Papers Booklet
The completion of past papers is a great way to revise for the upcoming maths examinations next summer. To aid this the Maths Department have produced a booklet of past Maths papers for all Year 11 students to use in and out of the classroom. To cover the increased cost of printing a payment of £5 is requested towards the cost of photocopying these.
Payment can be made via your child’s Wisepay account. If your child is in receipt of the Pupil Premium there may be some financial support to fund this – please get in touch to let us know if you are able to part-fund or require assistance with the full amount.
Thank you for your continued support and we wish your child every success in the forthcoming examinations.
Mr Curd
Maths Clinic
Sixth Form students are still running a Maths Clinic every break time in N33.
If you are in Years 7, 8, 9, 10 or 11 and are stuck on your homework or a question, please come and see them, they will be glad to help. A member of staff will be present to supervise.
Maths GCSE and A-Level Revision Sessions

Year 12 and Year 13 students continue to meet in N33 every Wednesday after school from 3.15pm to 4.15pm.
