Delta GEMS - 9-12th grade minority young women
The Richland County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is pleased to announce the Dr. Jeanne L. Noble Delta GEMS is currently accepting Participant Applications for the 2021-2022 virtual program year. This program addresses the needs of minority young women ages 14-18, in grades 9-12th grades.
The goals of Delta GEMS:
- To instill the need to excel academically;
- To provide tools that enable girls to sharpen and enhance their skills to achieve high levels of academic success;
- To assist girls in proper goal setting and planning for their futures – high school and beyond; and
- To create compassionate, caring, and community-minded young women by actively involving them in service-learning and community service opportunities.

National Technical Honor Society
The deadline to submit eligible students for the National Technical Honor Society is Friday, October 22.
Requirements include:
- Will be an LTC completer in any area by the end of 2021-2022 school year
- 90 or better average in LTC courses
- Minimum overall 3.5 GPA (weighted)
- Good character
- Good attendance
- No major disciplinary infractions
- Must complete 16 hours of Community Service
Interested students can sign up with their LTC instructor or in the LTC Counseling Office, room 401.

To be eligible, you must:
- have completed a French 3 or higher class; OR
- be enrolled in a French 3 or higher class (9th graders welcome) THIS YEAR.
- have maintained an A average for each semester of French.
- have a 3.5 weighted GPA.
*Exceptions can be made for students who have completed French 4HN in the past but who cannot fit French 5 into their schedule this year.

Register for the Virtual Student Summit - November 6
Sign up now to be a part of the 2021 Virtual Student Summit on Saturday, November 6 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. This event is co-sponsored by Boeing and Clemson University's Office of College Preparation and Outreach. Sign up here - www.clemson.edu/virtualsummit.
The summit is designed to educate, inspire, and empower underrepresented middle and high school students but is open to any 7th - 12th grade student who registers.
There will be a variety of speakers that will hold interactive sessions about the college admissions process, financial aid options, strategies for academic success in high school, leadership development, career options and much more!
Students will have the opportunity to hear from colleges/universities from around South Carolina during a virtual college fair. The keynote speaker is the star of the TV Show Greenleaf, actor Lamman Rucker.
C-CATS, Clemson’s Challenge - For Academically Talented Students
This program is designed for high-achieving 9th and 10th grade students. C-CATS introduces students to Clemson through exciting weekend adventures that engage them in the academic, social, and recreational opportunities offered at Clemson.
Participants are nominated by their school counselor. Students are expected to be ranked in the top 10% of their class, whose academic records predict a score of 1300 or higher on the SAT and who would benefit from this program.
Let your counselor know if you would like to be nominated for this program. The weekend programs run from the weekends of March – May, 2022. VFW’s Voice of Democracy Competition - $30,000
Submit an audio-essay for VFW’s Voice of Democracy scholarship competition, open to students in Grades 9-12. This year’s theme: “America: Where do we go from here?” To fill out the entry form and for more information go to the web site here .

Cat's Closet
The Cat’s Closet houses items that students may need throughout the school year but are not in a position to acquire.
Any student in need can come “shop” privately for the following: Hygiene Products (unopened), Shampoo and conditioner, hair styling products, soap/body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes and floss, deodorant, soap/body wash, feminine hygiene products, nail clippers, emery boards, lotion, lip balm, Q-Tips, combs, brushes, hair bands, band-aids, first-aid products, laundry detergent.
School Supplies: Backpacks, notebooks, folders/binders, pencils/pens, loose-leaf paper, planners/organizers/binder tabs, highlighters, markers, colored pencils. Supplies vary. Clothing (gently used or new): limited selection
Please let Mrs. Bausch know if you are interested in this service. Anyone in need is welcome to come “shop” for free in private.
FIT - Food Improving Thinking
The Lexington High School FIT Program (Food Improving Thinking) consists of providing nutritious food during the weekends and holidays when students who need meals may be left without an adequate supply of nutritious food.
The program provides individually packed food items that students can prepare by themselves. Seasonal fruit may be included. Bags of food will be delivered in a discreet manner once a week, for now on Tuesdays and Thursdays, then on Fridays throughout the normal school year. Anonymity will be assured.

Since we have a variety of students participating, it will not be possible for us to accommodate for food allergies. We ask that you read the labels carefully to ensure your safety.
