In their Shoes
Stacey is working on a display for our students called "Walk a Mile in my Shoes." This is to encourage students to see the story from the character's perspective. For example, she will display the book "A Witch on a Motorcycle" alongside a witch's shoe. I started thinking about lesson planning and how it may look if we plan lessons from the student's perspective. What if we considered the following through a student's eyes when planning:
1. What do I expect to learn from this lesson and why should I care?
2. How do you (the teacher), and I know if I have learned it?
3. If I did not learn, help me find a way to succeed. Help me understand what to do next if I am not confident of what to do.
4. What if I know this already and am ready to take the next step? What are my next steps?
Strong planning will yield great results from our students. Know where your students are so that you can continue to grow them in the days to come. We have lots of work to do my friends, and I look forward to the hard work ahead. :-)
United Way
I have placed United Way forms in your boxes. Please consider donating to this cause. This organization helps our district with grants, backpacks, and family needs among other things throughout the year. The forms are due at the end of September. :-)
