Ms. Collodora's News
Here's what's hip-hop and happening in our room! Week 18
Spelling
This week we practiced the /sh/ and /th/ digraph.
Reading and Writing
Weather, weather and more weather is what we are learning about! We are also focusing on fairy tales and poems this theme. We read a story called “The Bell in the Well” and talked about what makes it a fairy tale and how it is very similar to Cinderella. We will also be looking at different poems and writing some of our own!
Math
Back to School, Time to Review
We spent some time this week reviewing our rules, jobs and goals for school. Since it is a new year, we talked a lot about resolutions and our Hopes and Dreams (that we made at the beginning of the school year). We have all made some great resolutions for the remainder of the year and we are going to continue to work on our Hopes and Dreams! Some of us have already made met our goal, but we can always learn more!
Friendly Reminders and Fun News
No school Monday 1/18 and Monday 1/25.
Brady was our Star Student this week.
It is so good to be back! I really did miss the kiddos while I was gone! It sounds like they had a blast with Mrs. Raff and she gave them a great review! Thank you all so much for the kind words: it was a gorgeous day in Jamaica and our wedding was perfect!
NWSISD News: We are a STEM school and get some support from North West Suburban ISD and they come out to our school to see how we are doing! They have asked if there are any parents who are available February 23rd, around 9 AM to come and talk with them about your experience with Tatanka as a STEM school and how you feel about your child's education in a STEM school. If this is something you are interested in, please let me know! I will pass your information on to Mr. Kuklok, our curriculum integration specialist, who will set up the specifics. Thanks in advance if you can help!
Below, I have added a link to my Donor's Choose Project. I would like to get 6 Bee Bots for our classroom to work on our 4 C's and to teach the kids more about coding! If you are interested in donating, or know someone who would be willing to donate, or your company is willing to donate, please pass on this information! It is a great cause and will teach the kids a lot of great skills for the future! ( I am leaving this link here! Please pass it along! I'm working on contacting some coding and technology companies to see if we can get our project funded!)
A HUGE THANK YOU to the Salonek family! They donated a bee bot to our classroom! If the project is funded, we will have 7 bees! THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!
