Working Hard Until Break

South Side Families,

Our winter break is just around the corner. We have school until Friday, December 21 and will return on Thursday, January 3. Winter break is a great opportunity for families to take a break from their normal schedule and enjoy some time together. I hope that you all have a nice break!

Teachers and students have begun and will continue to work very hard to complete middle of year testing. All of our students in grades K-5 are taking NWEA tests, iReady math, and also testing to determine their current reading level. Wow! That's a lot of tests. The purpose of so much testing is to best determine what students need for the rest of the school year. We will take these tests again in the spring.

To see what's happening in our school, be sure to check us out on Twitter (@enssprincipal) and Facebook (South Side Trailblazers).

Have a great winter break!

Santa's Workshop

The South Side PTO is working hard to bring our students this opportunity again this year. Santa's Workshop will be held Tuesday, 12/11 through Thursday, 12/13. Each class will be given time to shop Santa's Workshop during the school day to buy Christmas gifts for friends and family members. There is a wide variety of gifts ranging from 25 cents to $5. Volunteers will be available to assist the students. An envelope will be coming home soon. Please have your child bring their money to school in the budgeting envelope to help with the purchasing process.

South Side Parent/Teacher Organization

The South Side PTO is always ready to welcome new parent members. We meet on the second Tuesday of every month at 4:00 pm in the school library. Please join us on Tuesday, January 8.

4th and 5th Grade Music Program

This Thursday is our 4th and 5th grade music program. Doors will open at 5:45 and the program will begin at 6:00. Fourth grade students will go to the music room when they arrive. Fifth grade students will go to the gym and sit in the bleachers.

Parents, please take your child's coat with you when you find seats in the cafeteria.

No Need to Debate, Come to School, and Don't be Late

This week South Side sent out 80+ attendance letters that align with the new attendance policy. We understand that this is confusing for many people and are here to answer any questions that you might have. It is also important for families to remember that if your student does not complete e-learning assignments, they are counted absent for that e-learning day.

Lost and Found

Our lost and found is very full at the moment. We plan to donate all clothing items left on the table during Christmas break. If your child is missing any clothing items, please call the school with a description and we can check to see if we have it.
