Welcome to another great school year!
Dear HSI Parents,
Welcome to the new 2019-2020 school year! Our HSI team has been working hard to prepare the school for students and can't wait to teach and learn with you. Our campus leadership team is eager to welcome back our HSI families and meet those of you who may be new to our campus!
Our principal, Mrs. Amy Chankin has 17 years of educational experience as a teacher, interventionist, Curriculum Coach, Community Outreach Coordinator, Assistant Principal of Academics, and Principal in Residence. She has worked in the public, private, and charter school sectors in California and Texas and has her bachelor’s from California State University Long Beach, K-12 Credential from San Jose State University, and my Masters in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. Mrs. Chankin also served as the HSI Assistant Principal of Academics for the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 school years and returned during 2018-2019 Spring semester. achankin@harmonytx.org
Mr. Angel Sanchez returned to Harmony School of Innovation 2018-2019 school year and is continuing his 2nd year as the Assistant Principal of Academics. He began his career with Harmony in 2013 at Harmony School of Innovation - Austin in South Austin where he served as a 1st grade Teacher and then as an English Second Language coordinator. Before he joined the Harmony family, he worked in Special Education as a Life Skills Teacher for Hays Consolidated Independent School District between 2011-2013 years. Mr. Sanchez is a Texas State University 2011 alumnus with a major in Interdisciplinary Studies. angel.sanchez@harmonytx.org
Our Assistant Principal of Students, Ms. Jessica Gomez, is a graduate from St. Edward’s University with a Bachelor of Arts in Language Arts, Reading, and Writing and a Minor in Teacher Education. This will be Ms. Gomez’s 10th year with Harmony Public Schools where she has served as assistant principal of students, discipline coordinator, taught 1st and 3rd grade, was the K-2 department head, a gifted and talented teacher, and a member of the public relations team. She is passionate about serving our Harmony community and looks forward to the new school year!
Mrs. Dilara Ozarowski is our campus' Curriculum Instructional Coach for all grades and subjects. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education. This will be her 9th year with Harmony, and 6th year as a Curriculum Coach. Prior to coaching, she was a 3rd grade teacher and department chair. She is here to support all teachers and help ensure all students are growing in their educational careers!
We are excited to announce that our school rating has increased to 87% for the 2018-2019 year! HSI is so proud of all our teachers, staff, students and their parents who continue to work towards our vision to lead ALL students from the classroom into the world as productive and responsible citizens!

Attention parents! If your child has medication that must be taken during school, a medication authorization form (see below for download) must be submitted to the health office along with the original prescription labeled container. PARENTS NEEDED!
LPAC Parent Member Needed
We are looking for parent volunteers to serve on our school's Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC). In order to serve in the committee as a parent member, you must have a student in our English as a Second Language (ESL) program. The LPAC Committee serves as the students' advocate to make certain they receive the appropriate services. You will receive training and then assist in identifying and placing students in the appropriate program.
