Broward County Public Schools parents, guardians, caregivers, administrators, teachers and staff,
Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) continues to closely monitor local COVID-19 conditions to ensure the health and safety of students and employees.
Due to the recent decline in COVID-19 cases, the District has revised its face coverings requirements.
Beginning Monday, February 14, 2022, vendors and visitors will be strongly encouraged to wear face coverings while indoors in any District school, facility or vehicle, as are District students and employees.
Thank you.
Accessing Instruction While Quarantined
Due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, students may need to be quarantined if they test positive for the illness or are have been in close contact with an infected person.
The State Board of Education approved provisions allowing quarantined students to be counted as present in school and continue their learning – if the students are physically well enough to do so. Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) established the following protocols and resources to help students stay on track academically.
- A student needs to have received notification to quarantine from a public health agency or other medical official. Most frequently, a quarantine order is issued from the Broward County Department of Health. Quarantine orders may also be provided by a school nurse. Families can report a quarantine order with the BCPS Coronavirus Notification Form.
- Students in grades 6 – 12 have access to their assignments and curriculum through the district's learning management system, Canvas. Students should access their digital learning materials, including access to Canvas, at sso.browardschools.com. Students in grades 6 – 12 can also view their current grades via the BCPS app for Andoid or iOS or check via Pinnacle in a web browser. Students in grades pre–K to 5 may have access to the assignments in Canvas (at the teacher's discretion) or be provided with paper packets of assignments.
- Students can view and hear sessions of direct instruction, group discussion, or limited other portions of the class activities while they are quarantined at home. Students can access a Microsoft Teams link associated with their class Canvas page.
- Students can get direct support on understanding their curriculum from a certified teacher between 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. each school day by using the Ask BRIA link in Canvas. Additionally, Ask BRIA support is available to all BCPS students on school days, Monday – Thursday, from 3 – 8 p.m.
BCPS is committed to supporting our students learning needs under these extraordinarily challenges conditions. More information on quarantine protocols is available on the Quarantine Guidance for Students webpage and details on the District's coronavirus response is at browardschools.com/coronavirus.
See Emergency Rule is 6AER21-01 for the complete formal action taken by the Florida State Board of Education.

PARENT/GUARDIAN CONSENT FOR SCHOOL HEALTH SERVICES
RATIONALE: Under new Fla. Stat. § 1014.06, licensed health care providers and practitioners as defined in Fla. Stat. § 456.001 may not provide, solicit, or arrange to provide health care services to children without first receiving written parental consent. Schools should note that § 1014.06 provides that violators will be subject to disciplinary action under licensing statutes, administrative fines, and potential criminal action.
The Parents’ Bill of Rights allows parents to do the following:
• Access and review all medical records (unless the parent is the subject of a criminal investigation for harm to a child).
• Opt out of HIV/Aids education for their child.
• Opt out of any portion of the school district’s comprehensive health and sex education.
• Reject medical treatment for a child unless the state can prove the child’s own welfare would be best served by such treatment.
• Exempt a student from required immunizations.
• Create a list of people, by priority, who may consent to the medical care or treatment of a minor when a parent or legal guardian can’t be reached.
PLEASE DOWNLOAD AND COMPLETE THIS CONSENT FORM. THANK YOU
