The Blue Angel Weekly

July 17, 2023

Dear PCA Families,

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer! It is hard to believe we are in the middle of July already!

Please be sure that you have checked the website for your child's summer Reading and Math assignments (rising 1st-8th graders) and supply lists. More information about summer assignments and supplies can be found below.

Please check your emails for the updated Parent/Student Handbook and Code of Conduct. All families need to sign and return the acknowledgment page from these documents to the school email: palmercatholic@pcapvb.org. (Email with the documents was sent on Saturday.)

Scholarship families: If you have not signed up for a MANDATORY meeting, please do so ASAP using the Sign-Up Genius below. Meetings are only 15 minutes each due to the large number of families who we need ot meet with prior to the start of school. ALL SCHOLARSHIP FAMILIES MUST ATTEND A MEETING PRIOR TO THE START OF SCHOOL AS PER THE STATE SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES.

Only one parent needs to attend the meeting and students do not need to attend.

Please be sure to have reviewed the Code of Conduct and Parent/Student Handbook PRIOR to coming to your meeting. We can address any questions you may have about our school policies. These meetings will be strictly to discuss and answer questions about the policies. We will NOT be discussing financials of any kind (i.e. what can we use the money for?, Will I be reimbursed for money I have paid?, etc.) If you have any questions about scholarship and/or tuition money, please direct them to Robin Devenny, Business Manager (rdevenny@pcapvb.org).

A huge thank you to Robin for all she has done to get us set up to receive scholarships. This is just one of her MANY job duties as the Business Manager, and as you can imagine, it has been a huge amount of extra work on her plate! Thank you for your patience as everything is set up in the portal and all your emails are answered.

***scholarship meetings****

Since we have a large number of families to meet with, we are limiting these meetings to 15 minutes each. If you need additional time for questions, we would be happy to schedule a second meeting with you after the start of school. Please be on time for your meeting as the schedule is very tight! Thank you for understanding!!

Note: Only one parent needs to attend and students do not need to attend.

Meetings are for any family who has been awarded a state scholarship. You must send your award number to Robin so she can add it to the portal. If you are pending, we will need to meet once you are awarded, not before.

Please keep scrolling through the Sign-Up Genius to find available slots.

Security Updates for the 2023-2024 school year

Since April, we have been paying for police presence on campus. We made arrangements with the SJCSO to have deputies sign up on their off days to be at PCA. This has worked out very well, and we now have several deputies that have become familiar with our campus.

We have made arrangements for this to continue for the 2023-2024 school year. While the cost is high, we feel that this is a definite need for the safety and security of our students and staff.
