World Wildlife Fund
Student Council is raising money for the World Wildlife fund. As a school we are collecting money to virtually adopt animals. Kindergarten is raising money to help protect PANDAS and their habitat. Please help by donating to this cause!
Math
For the remainder of the year, we will be focusing on teen numbers while still reviewing everything we have done this year. We want to make sure that ALL kids leave kindergarten with a solid understanding of number sense and simple fact fluency.
Reading
This week in reading we studied a non-fiction text called Chickens Aren’t the Only Ones. We started off the week by using our schema, or previous knowledge, about animals that lay eggs. The students knew about a lot of animals that lay eggs, but we learned about even more after reading the text! We spent a lot of time talking about what oviparous means and talking about different animals that lay eggs. We discovered that the opposite of oviparous is viviparous. Ask you child what they learned about oviparous animals! We also learned about the author’s purpose of the text. The author wrote the story to inform us of different animals that lay eggs. We then became writers ourselves and wrote to inform our audience about oviparous animals.
6th Grade Learning Buddies
This week with our 6th grade learning buddies, we started animal reports in preparation for our Zoo Trip! The kids are so excited and motivated to learn about the different animals they can see at the zoo! Ask your child what animal they are learning about!
