We have one remaining opening on our Budget Committee, for a three year term expiring 6/30/2026. Please consider serving! There is only a three meeting commitment each spring.

The Budget Committee reviews the District’s budget and recommends needed changes. The Committee conducts business in evening public meetings held between May and June. The Budget Committee also approves the Budget Document and forwards it to the School Board for adoption by the end of June.

Interested people who are registered voters living within the district boundary should submit a letter of interest to rachelh@bandon.k12.or.us

In February we started tracking attendance across grade levels. The winning grade level will receive a reward at the end of each month. The grade level that has the best attendance between now and the end of the school year, will get an additional treat! We appreciate your commitment to being at school.

Monday, February 27, the BHS Band performed at their first state qualifying festival of the year located at Oregon State University. They played three songs for three judges and scored 77,84,88 (which is REALLY good for this early in the year!) After the band performed, they were then able to have one of the judges come and work with them to help them get better.

The general presentation will provide an overview for all students who attend. The discussion topic will center around the benefits of attending college and earning your degree while staying in Oregon. Please find seating in the bleachers upon your arrival.

College Fair

Following the general presentation, students will be released from the bleachers to independently visit eight separate tables.

Bandon Chamber of Commerce is hosting a job fair in the library from 1:30 PM- 3:00 PM on March 8th. Companies attending include: Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, Bullards Beach State Park, Big Wheel General Store, Bandon Card & Gift, By the Sea Treasures, The Toy Store, Best Western Inn at Face Rock, Southern Coos Hospital, Lloyd Electric, Still Water Assisted Living and Beach Loop Realty.

We held the Chapter Round of MathCounts at our school Friday afternoon. Four members from the MathCounts program came from Portland to put on the competition. As we were the only school competing from our region this year, our Tigers competed both with and against each other in four different rounds of competition. Here are the overall results.

We're very proud of our hardworking Tiger Mathletes!

This past weekend, 3 Harbor Lights students joined up with Coquille to compete in the Oregon High School Chess Tournament. Combined, the team placed second in the Open Team Division. Congratulations to Ayden Rowe, Emmett Stewart, and Jack Taylor!

Starting this semester, we are going to begin tracking attendance across grade level. Each month, the grade with the best attendance will receive a prize. At the end of the semester, the grade with the best overall attendance will receive an additional treat. Thank you for your continued commitment to attendance.

Due to popular demand, Chess club will be continuing at the Bandon Public Library every Thursday at 3:30 PM

All of our students should have recently signed a behavior agreement form that acknowledges that they have reviewed the student handbook, and know what the behavior expectations are at HLMS. We would appreciate it if you could take a moment to review the student hand book (link below) as well.

Just a reminder, students are not allowed to have cell phones out during school hours. We require them to be kept off and in their locker or backpack during the day. This includes breaks and at lunch. Please encourage your student to come to the office or their teachers if they have a concern or need help instead of reaching out to you via cell phone during the day. This way we can help make sure that all your student's needs are being met. We have a student phone available in the commons that is always available.

Ocean Crest held their first Reading Day event during school! Every child to participate in reading activities, games, art projects, snacks, and lots of reading.

The Character Focus for the month of March is Cooperation.
