Maverick Minutes
Week of August 28-September 1
Let this Ride Begin!
As students enter the room, I want to share something my pastor said last Sunday. He said, "FEAR comes in two forms. It either means Face Everything And Rise or Forget Everything And Run!" I couldn't help but think of our students as they arrive to our classes with fear in their hearts and mind. They too fit these two forms in many ways. New school, new classes, low confidence, high confidence in themselves or maybe just the fear of the unknown...good or bad. If we can pause a minute to reflect that we have those very same fears too when we approach something, either rising to the challenge or running from it...if we can keep that in mind, it may just be the beginning of that relationship you are about to build. Be patient with the ones that run and rise. Both are unique in their own way. Figure out which they are, get to know them early and enjoy them. I love the life and laughter that they bring to the building. Of course there are some that are challenging along the way, but they too make us better.
I wish all of you a successful 2017-2018 school year! Enjoy the ride!!!!
