Teenage Girl Committed Suicide

Thirteen Reasons Why

Think wisely before you speak and act

This story is about a teenage girl that committed suicide for 13 specific reasons. The message is, without a doubt, think wisely before you speak and act. If the 13 people Hannah Baker met thought wisely before they spoke and act then she wouldn't have killed herself. For example, one person is a reason why Hannah killed herself is because they bullied her.

“No one knows for certain how much impact they have on the lives of other people. Oftentimes, we have no clue. Yet we push it just the same.”

The people that we have in our lives are there for reasons. Some people we'll spend more time with than others. In the end, everyone matters. If they didn't, they wouldn't be in our lives. This relates to the theme because 13 people didn't realize how important Hannah was to their lives.

“You don’t know what goes on in anyone’s life but your own. And when you mess with one part of a person’s life, you’re not messing with just that part. Unfortunately, you can’t be that precise and selective. When you mess with one part of a person’s life, you’re messing with their entire life. Everything. . . affects everything.”

You never know what goes on in someone else's world. That's why you must nevertheless respect. Also to think before you say something to them. This relates to the theme because if people respected Hannah more, she wouldn't have eaten those pills.
